Gus: Cracked me up, Your Pirate-ness.

Drop Dead Gorgias: Surely this should be at Weird Trade Union, no?

BT The P: Goddamnit! I thought it was I before E except after C, or when sounding like A as in neighbor or weigh! I actually had it the other way first! I'll copy it over.

Okay, done. Now, if our kind Janitor would please delete the misspelled entry, I'd appreciate it.

Tabby: I before E except after C. We live in a weird society!

Daibhid C: While I'm sure it's where Pratchett got the idea, are the Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds in Lankhmar proper trade guilds with all the rights and duties medieval guilds had, like the Discworld versions, or are they (like the Thieves' Guild in David Eddings' Elenium) criminal gangs with impressive names?

Johnny E: This doesn't really fit in the article proper, but worth mentioning - medieval Krakow had it's outer wall divided up between the Guilds (perfectly ordinary guilds, albeit with funny names like Haberdashers and Furriers) so that each one was responsible for building, maintaining and guarding its own tower, which were as a result all built to different shapes and sizes. One of those charming little examples of truth being at least *as* cool as fiction.

Studiode Kadent: "Villainy by nature is a solitary and selfish activity..." This is not necessarily correct. Villainy is defined as, essentially, doing something that is known to be evil in a premeditated fashion with full information about its moral status. This does not necessarily imply that 'selfishness' is villainy, depending of course on your definition of 'selfish.'

Additionally, many villains are neither solitary nor selfish. Do I have to bring up the fact that Mao, Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot (all undeniably villains) were all collectivists and advocated against solitude and selfishness?
