Pro-Mole: Wait wait wait wait wait... wait there. First example, Super Mario Bros: how can a trope be subverted and played straight at the same time. It either needs a clarfication, or it is utterly wrong.
- It depends on the game, sometimes the Koopas are merely mooks while in other games, they're friendly characters, either NP Cs or actual party members (in RP Gs and party games in particular). Even in the same game you'll encounter Koopas who are friendly and Koopas who are not friendly.
