From YKTTW Working Title: Suspiciously Specific Tense

Rasalas: I've removed the following "real life" example, because it is too vague. Should anyone know what event this is referring to, it needs a name, a year, and a nation to be convincingly real.

Real Life

  • About a decade ago, a woman appeared on national television pleading for kidnappers to return her child. The fact that she referred to her child in past tense clued investigators in on the fact she had actually murdered him and tried to cover it up.
