Jisu: I keep thinking this is about the reverse of Muggle Foster Parents. I spend too much time around books and not enough around sets.

Lale: That's reassuring. No joke.

Jisu: Do we even have something for that, anyway?

Lale: A Bookworm? No. What do you mean?

Proginoskes: I think Jisu is referring to I Thought It Meant, where the title of an article suggests a subject contrary to the actual trope. I wonder if JKR took the term for nonmagical children of magical parents from "wet squib". In fact, if "wet squib" has entered British slang, I wouldn't be surprised if people unaware of the origin of the term dropped the adjective entirely for everyday use.

Rissa: "Wet squib" is in common usage in Britain. I'd be surprised if that wasn't what Rowling was thinking.

Doktor von Eurotrash: This page should be changed to reflect the fact that the Harry Potter term is pretty obviously from "wet squib" (a firework that won't go off, in other words).
