Working Title: Automatic Best Friends: From YKTTW
Nerdorama: Some major countries haven't gotten "Western Air Temple" and forward yet, guys.
- Avatar The Last Airbender, when former villain Zuko joins the Gaang and Katara gives him a death threat. Lo and behold, everyone's making nice nice with him in the next episode, and Sokka even jokes around with him. The most we get as a reminder that this is a guy that gave them hell for the past two seasons is some mild snarkiness from Katara. And it's really no different from the snarky remarks she gives Sokka.
- I dunno, things were pretty awkward around him for a while - which was especially noteworthy in his interactions with Sokka. It took their mutual experience in the Boiling Rock to truly make them comfortable with each other. The only one who got along with him from the start was Toph, who had fewer bad experiences with him and was fond of Iroh. Really, Katara was being was more than just snarky.
Lale: Let's make this simple — Zuko was not quickly and easily trusted. Not an example.
Ross N: I don't think Rachel from Friends should count - she was best friends with Monica for years, knew Ross pretty well through her and had at least met Chandler a few times. Arguably Joey (who had apparently moved in with Chandler only a year before) was more of an outsider to the group.
Lots42: Re; Voyager and Maquis. For one, the Maquis were -mostly- the noble rogue types, like Han Solo. Most of them didn't kill innocents. That sure helped ease the transition. Secondly, being Maquis was mentioned all the time. Much of Seska's success exploited the crew's differences. When Tuvok went nuts in a later episode, the fact that the victims were all Maquis stirred up some nasty feelings. In yet another episode, Tuvok helps four Maquis retrain to a Starfleet way of life. Torres' Maquis-style of command helped move along the plot a lot. And so on.
