From YKTTW

I like double entendre as much as anybody, but what will we do when we need to make a trope that is actually about the idea of The Captain sacficing his life remaining onboard a sinking (or sci-fi equivalent) ship so his crew can escape?

YYZ: I personally like Fellows Its Been Nice To Know You, a la Gordon Lightfoot.

Lale: "The [insert name of a particular famous example] Sacrifice."

Cassius335: What about changing this trope's name instead? Last Rites?

Chuckg: 'Author accusatory bullshit?' By definition, invoking the Death of the Hypotenuse trope at all requires presuming intent on the part of the author... Die for Our Ship is for when the fandom does it, Death of the Hypotenuse is for when the creator intends it. Since Tropes has the hypotenuse page existing at all, wouldn't that thus mean you're allowed to accuse authors of it here?
