Prfnoff: Eliminated this rambling digression from the RENT entry:

  • "Contact," however, is gone for good, with Angel's death taking place during "Without You" instead. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The high school version of the script drops it as well.
    • That's not to mention all of the Tune Ups and Voice Mails (many were changed into dialogue, though), as well as "You Okay Honey" "On the Street" (changed to dialogue) the opening segment to "La Vie Boheme" the second half of "Goodbye Love" the reprise of "Seasons of Love" both parts of "Happy New Year" (changed into dialogue) most of "Life Support" the majority of "Finale A" (though much of it was changed into dialogue) and even the main musical motif and what is arguably the show's centerpiece: "Christmas Bells". For those who don't know, the show's first act, "Tune Up #1" through "La Vie Boheme B" is supposed to all take place on Christmas Eve and act two, starting with "Seasons of Love", starts on New Year's Eve. The movie decompressed the story a lot, a move which all my fellow RENT-heads that I've talked about it with have disliked.
