Working Title: Cryptic Conversation: From YKTTW

Azaram\\ I don't remember it well enough to add it, but one early episode of ST:TNG, Cap'n Roll-on was having a conversation with an alien that spoke only in literary allusions. Like saying "General Custer's Last Stand" to mean 'Overconfidence leading to an inglorious defeat', or '300' meaning 'something that people with no sense of humor over-quote constantly'.

fleb: Never really watched the show, but Popcultural Osmosis says you're talking about the quasi-infamous "Darmok" episode.

  • Yes I do. No WAY is he that young. In the 27th series of the original show, he gave his age as 953. Many incarnations later, he's 903? Must be a time traveler...

Well obviously in Time and the Rani he was using ''Gallifreyan years'' since it's a plot point that it's the same age as the Rani and why would she use Earth years on an alien planet? Okay, no, really. It just seemed really out of place in the article and didn't really add anything.
