Working Title: Masked Angst: From YKTTW

john_e: Removed chatter:

Wait, is Doctor Who only a half-hour overseas? Or was that just a typo? 'Cause I'd hate to correct it and end up being wrong. 'Cause, you know. The world is not America.

For what it's worth, nearly all of the classic series did indeed have half-hour (well, 25 minute) episodes.

Tarvok: Rather than turning the Star Wars entry even further into a forum thread, I figured I'd put this here, and see if anyone does anything with it. Regarding Leia and the destruction of Alderaan, I think the following paraphrase might apply: One death is a tragedy. A trillion deaths is a statistic. A trillion deaths might register emotionally upon the brain as "does not compute." Additionally, Leia had already had time to grieve the death of her adoptive family in her cell (not the best of venues, I know; but the fact remains that time passed). When Luke gets the blanket, it's because Obi-Wan's death (and Obi-Wan was basically the only guy he really knew in a setting he was most unaccustomed to at this point) had happened but moments ago.

Sen: I wouldn't go straight for the Stalin quote angle, but I think the explanation on the trope page covers it best - she's been in the Rebellion and knows this sort of thing; as a result, she just barrels from "grief" to "murderous, rage-fueled desire for vengeance" pretty quickly. Luke has only had two tragedies, and in the first case Obi-Wan was present to cut short any angst and drag him along to Mos Eisley. It only makes sense that he's the one with the least experience. Plus, Star Wars film plots move along incredibly fast - maybe all the angst took place off-screen.

Or maybe Anakin used up the entire angst allowance for the Skywalker family?
