Rogue 7: I'll just leave this
here. Relevant information, I feel.
Lady Shadowflame: Relevant to the fic? No, actually, it isn't. At least, not in my opinion.
Superior : I just deleted three edits of an obvious complainer. One of them called the idea of the students forming a rock-solid military organization in "a few short months", (that is basically the entire plot), a Wall Banger. Another one claimed that any new spells, or even Room of Requirement usages that were not shown in canon are New Powers as the Plot Demands. No. Their power is magic, and that's what they have here, too. The third one just added that Your Mileage May Vary about the work's quality. Of course our mileage may vary, but you don't have to point out that yours does.
- Across The Stars: Same person, same old tricks. Complainer duly neutralized. Again.
- Chocolatepot: Wall Banger seems reasonable to me. Just because it's "basically the entire plot" doesn't make it easier to swallow.
Parcae: Is there an actual reason for this page to exist, apart from the author's ego?
- Across The Stars: Actually, the author had nothing to do with the page creation. I
createdlaunched it (a fact which has never been hidden; I list it on my Contributor's Page), as it kept getting hyped about and used a goodly number of tropes. I read it, I liked it, and it had turned into rather a Fan Verse. Also, it was long and it was readable. This was, of course, before all the kerfuffle and wank exploded. Feel free to delete, if you like.
So you're allowed to rip on canon and pretend this fic is so much better because it includes more torture porn in your examples, but no one's allowed to point out it's not all it's cracked up to be for everyone? That's nice. Since you take this illustrious position, I'll go ahead and edit one or two examples so they seem less like "JK sucks and I'm here to stroke this author's ego!
(I posted the Your Mileage May Vary, but not anything else. So it wasn't just one person.)
- When I launched this, I wrote the description (which is not ego-stroking at all) and added five or six tropes that had jumped out at me - Celtic Mythology, Ho Yay, Ensemble Dark Horse, Tear Jerker, Heterosexual Life-Partners, and... yup, that's about it. Having come back after working away from the internet all summer, I was very pointedly introduced to the fact that the author is in fact a misogynistic asswipe and have only rarely revisited this page since. I wouldn't even have come back here if it weren't for the recent wanksplosion over on Live Journal. I may love the fic (well, the original fic), but as of now, that's as far as that goes. Did I mention that I now think the author is a misogynistic, narcissistic asswipe? I apologise for my rage issues, by the way - which are not in any way directed at you.
- Superior: I'm still not sure that I correctly understood all this background drama about the author, who is apparently a misogynistic asswipe, but anyways, I disagree with the majority of the recent negative edits, that are clearly influenced by said drama. At least the above complainer brought up new, critical tropes about the work, (even though I still disagree that New Powers as the Plot Demands would be technically fitting there, for example), but Nev is just ruining the page for no apparent reason. What could be the point of reducing the Angst? What Angst? entry to six word, or deleting the P.O.V. Sequel entry? It IS a P.O.V. Sequel! You are not even removing some blalant Author praising as you(?) claimed, just make the page suck more.
You removed comments because your mileage varies, I did the same. I only edited three things- The Angst? What Angst? bashed canon for no reason. And Firefly did have an issue with a negative troper coming in (not me, I love Firefly...but I've never edited the page) and they compromised by taking the negative trope and the overly positive trope out.
POV Sequel, I thought that didn't apply with Fanfic. Sorry I was wrong, I must have misremembered the trope.
- P.O.V. Sequel doesn't say that it can apply to fanfic and it doesn't list any fic in the examples, although it doesn't say it can't apply to fanfic, either.
At any rate, sorry if I got a little wanky, I was just pissed off by the wank I saw and responded wankily due to My Totally Annoying Fiery Redhead geek temper (also, the fic gave me nightmares. I was vengeful). I'll keep out of this page from now on.

- The story itself has been around for many months. All the negative edits happened in the last several weeks, since rumors about the author broke out. Can we cut the wank and revert the page to the way it was before all the wank started? Or is this kind of vandalism encouraged on TV Tropes?
