Kevin's crush on Gwen dates back to his original appearance as Kevin 11 in the first Ben 10. So it makes sense that after years away, time to reform, and once more meeting the last girl (and probably before his time in the Void one of the only people) who was nice to him, the crush would return and be stronger. It's good continuity and good writing.

Like when? How? What scene? It just felt like it came out of nowhere.

Wasn't there last meeting going something like this?

(Kevin has Gwen in his arms, and Ben is in front of him) Kevin: Give me the Omnitrix or I'll stab your cousin to death!

....Maybe Kevin is in the closet and is trying to make himself love Gwen to ignore his feelings for Ben? It would explain why Gwen and Kevin's romance seems so fake.

I think it was more of CN's desperate attempt to shove away any belief of Ben and Gwen's rather suggestive relationship the fans had (which is rather stupid since they were CHILDREN) and give Kevin a bit of attempted Redemption at the same time. Not that it actually WORKED...

Also, what the hell happened to Charmcaster? She's never even mentioned anymore after her change of heart.

This bugs the heck out of me too. Charmcaster's change of heart was something I liked mainly because the Alien Force/Ultimate Alien staff were unable to make her the cool villain she was in the original show, so changing her allignment made her interesting. Yet then she's not even mentioned, despite finding a way to help her being the thing that Ben said would be top priority after the whole Aggregor (and by extension, Kevin) mess was through? Ugh, this show's writing sucks....

...I am NEVER watching this show again after what they did to Lucky Girl/Gwen and Charmcaster. Those two things were the only reasons (other than Kevin) why I bothered watching the original Ben 10 in the first place. Did they just FORGET she existed? Hell, even LUCKY GIRL got a callback (although a crappy one), and she was just Gwen in a costume!

I watched the original mainly for the villains (Kevin and Charmcaster included), Grandpa Max, and how fun and inventive the adventures/aliens could get. None of that good stuff is present anymore (the new villains are mostly lame, Kevin reformed is lame, Charmcaster reformed drops off the face of existence, etc; Grandpa Max is barely a presence and Kevin's quite a poor replacement for him; most of the new aliens are bland and the adventures are boring as hell.) It's a damn shame.

It's worse now. Vilgax looks like a squid.

Same...plus the stupid Omnitrix now looks like a watch instead of a gauntlet...

Thoughts on the plot related episode?

Okaaay... did you even bother WATCHING the show before making this review ? Let's see what's wrong with your review :

1) Gwen and Kevin are NOT the focus of the show at all. As a matter of fact it's the opposite problem: there are too much focus on Ben and Gwen and Kevin hardly get good fight. 2) If you watched more carefully you'd notice magic IS still present, and not alien-related; 3) Vilgax and Diagon are separate characters. Vilgax is just impresonnating him.

Conclusion: learn how to do a decent review and come back.

I have nothing else to say.

1) Seeing as the higher-ups in CN put Kevin and Gwen on a bus in Omniverse because they felt they took too much focus away from Ben as a character (fights be damned; outside of that it was always "Ben is a stupid, annoying jerkass while Gwen and Kevin are the good, smart, perfect couple"), I'd say the feeling they were too focused on is hardly exclusive to this reviewer.

2) Magic has been made alien-related through the whole "Mana" bullshit.

3) OK, you got that one right.

Okay, I'll give him one thing. Vilgax was called Diagon by the cult before the character was introduced. But it did show he didn't watch all the episodes or he wouldn't have missed why Vilgax became a squid.

And Mana Alien retcon was indeed bullshit.

Seeing these hateful comments (except Theokal3's) are more reasons as to why I hate Omniverse and will defend Alien Force/Ultimate Alien if they continue making Ben 10 sequels in the style of Omniverse.

I honestly don't get why the Mana retcon is so badly-received. It's not like that made magic alien-related; more like Anodytes were magic-related aliens. Also, mana has ALWAYS been the source of magic before Ben 10 arrives, so really...

Because it was saying that several principal characters and abilities were aliens when it was clear by the original series they were not.

Really ? How so ? No seriously, the only characters whose abilities were retconned as being from alien orgins were Kevin and Gwen. Kevin's power never had an explicit origin revealed in the Original Show (the whole mutant thing was a All There in the Manual fact only), and while Gwen's abilities were clearly defined in magic, her unusual affinity with magic was never explained by anything else than "she is just that good". Really, the whole Anodyte thing just served to explain WHERE Gwen got her magic affinity from, nothing else. Fans just assumed it meant she was pure alien no magic because Kevin and her father (both characters who knew NOTHING about magic) said so.

Clearly a rabid fans who can\'t accept anything new aslo hype backlash in ben 10 original ymmv so don\'t claim that origin series was better aslo this isn\'t a review it\'s more self hate rant by crazy person,. Ps ben 10 fanbase is the worst it\'s up they with star wars and fallout community.. 🖓
