You want an image of the future. Imagine this dvd sitting in your living room. Forever...

A magnificent, must see series. Don't wait to see this anime. After reading this review, if you haven't started watching yet. Do so immediately.

If you consider Cowboy Bebop to be the holy grail of anime, than Psycho Pass has some words for you. If you think Philip K. Dick is the only master of Dystopian sci-fi, Psycho Pass has something to show you. If you think Judge Dredd has the patent on Judge, Jury, and Executioner style future street cops, Psycho Pass has a much bigger gun. If you loved Minority Report. If you loved 1984. Loved Soylent Green. Loved The Dark Knight. This show is for you. All those I just mentioned, Psycho Pass takes a little bit of it all and more.

It has an extremely likable cast of characters, who are easy to care for with just few moments of screentime. And lot of the time a few moments of screentime is all they get. So Psycho Pass tends to make it count. The animation is topnotch, with loving detail given to it's setting. Let it be said that this show's fight choreography is among the best around. They're always intense and professional looking. This show will really make you stop and compare how terrible the fightscenes are in shows whose entire point is fighting, when up against Psycho Pass's.

The music loves to invoke Classical symphonies against brutal horror and Gives exactly the right atmosphere of noir/psychological thiller.

And on the villain of the piece. Shogo Makishima is an Expy of Johan Liebert Done horribly right. An near emotionless monster, who commits acts of cruelty without remorse and sows seeds as an agent of chaos. But he's so charismatic and cultured, you sometimes find yourself rooting for him.

The only gripe one can have with it, is it's cliche character designs. From the protagonists to the villains, everybody looks exactly like you'd expect them to look in an anime. It's not breaking the mold and main the cast can't be described as looking memorable in the slightest. But I guess it was that or give everybody blue or pink hair. Now go watch it.

Okay okay. I'm convinced. You got me! :D I've been putting it off and not watching it and not looking it up. But for the past month it's been on every advertisement space on every website. So... okay. I'll get back to you and let you know if I was pleased. :D

It is what it is.

If you have eyes and ears then you're sure to find it pleasing. But know going in, that it is very bleak. And yeah this show been getting some serious online advertising. For the best though.

I'm not much of an anime fan, but I'm a sucker for anything which could be reasonably described as "cyberpunk as fuck", which fit Psycho Pass perfectly. The animation really is great, although a lot of scenes are bizarrely poorly "lit", which makes the action difficult to follow. It's a show which could have very easily followed a conventional plot but instead ends up going a bit off the rails, which works to its credit.

Don't worry. The vast majority of books, movies, and games I consume are dystopian in nature. So this is perfect. I can't wait! The bleaker, the better! ^Slightly concerned about the story getting off the rails, but I'll give it a shot.

As an aside, there is a bat outside my window although I live in the city. I think he wants to watch Psycho-Pass with me.

It is what it is.

I think Bobchill means 'Going off the rails' is the big reveal and other spoilery things that shouldn't be mentioned for the good of story telling. And I don't know about it being 'bizarrely' poorly lit. Seems a stylistic choice considering the genre.

Also bat inside a city...You know what that means. I'd be careful if I were you. [[{{Film:The Dark Knight Rises}} He's known for blowing stuff up and running off with know criminals]]

What BBB said RE: rails. Concerning the lighting, obviously you expect a show like this to have a noirish atmosphere, but there are better ways to achieve that effect than obscuring the frame in black ink. It's only a minor concern though.

Oh okay I gotcha. Well, I am a bit concerned about the lighting, as I have notoriously poor eyesight and notoriously evil broken glasses right now. But that's what laptops are for.

Batman's presence could only mean good for where I live. :D

Batsy and I will let you guys know how great the show is.

It is what it is.
