Does Lagertha really count as an ensemble darkhorse? The trope itself pertains to incredibly popular minor characters, hence darkhorse. She's probably the third most major character after Ragnar and Rollo.

Yeah, she's too major a character to count. Same with Floki, and even Athelstan is iffy.

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In the Season 3 finale, Count Odo’s BDSM dungeon scene comes right out of nowhere, has no bearing on the plot whatsoever and Odo’s insistence in Safe, Sane, and Consensual aspect of it is bizarrely out of place in 9th century Frankia.

This is a Kick the Dog scene for Count Odo because Bondage Is Bad. Previously Odo looked like a normal, stand-up guy fighting for his city. This scene shows that he's got some weird shit going on in his life, putting a different light on his character. Since this was revealed in the final episode of the season, there hasn't been time to see the fallout from this revelation.
