Removing the following because it has been confirmed that AC and Watch_Dogs are unrelated:
- Shared Universe: With Assassins Creed.
The quote says as followed: “No, they are their own games in the Ubiverse. We like to put easter eggs like this in our games, but they are not literally connected.”
They never once say they aren't in the same verse and plenty of evidence to back up that they are. They said not literally connected, as in the games are unique entities to themselves ultimately.
Improving as an author, one video at a time. No, "Literally connected" would mean that they are in the same universe. That would be the most commonly accepted interpretation of "literally connected."
There's an app/story for the game set after the end called Watch_Dogs: Dark Shadows. Anyone want to do a trope page on it?
Removed this for discussion.
- Straw Hypocrite: The man who gets his bank account hacked by Aiden in one of the demos is set up as something of an Asshole Victim by being a Pro Life lobbyist while also being an executive at a tobacco company. Of course, this might cause Values Dissonance for some, since that adults can choose to poison themselves for pleasure while fetuses can't choose anything. But the finer points of his philosophy, if he has one, aren't exactly delved into.
Now Turtler added everything from "Of course" which turns this straight into a political debate that's going to turn into an Internet Backdraft, but even before that this is just a problem example that will turn into a clusterfuck period. So I say keep it cut and avoid it like it has the plague.
Aiden wears◊ a neck gaiter not a scarf. Just thought I'd clear that up.
No matter what I say there is a 40% percent chance I'm not being serious, and if I sound like I'm not then I probably am.Even though the characters aren't fully revealed, any chance someone can start a Character sheet?
So the Hollywood Hacking entry is really "A few liberties are unavoidable?"
I'm fine with liberties! But calling completely laughably fantastical impossible "hacking" literally every four feet "a few liberties" is just silly. Makes it sound like an Ubisoft exec wrote the example. Hollywood Hacking is the basis of the entire game, just as it was the basis of movie Hackers, or the book Neuromancer. Trying to downplay it is... goofy.
It has a ton of Hollywood Hacking. That doesn't make it terrible, but it has a whole hell of a lot. It could be the Trope Codifier for it. You could explain the concept of Hollywood Hacking simply by showing someone this game.
It could use at least a SLIGHT change to the wording, maybe? Like:
- Hollywood Hacking: Being a major studio action game about "hackers", don't expect to see much actual hacking on display; ctOS runs purely on Rule of Cool.
