Wait. So he doesn't even need that bad-ass eyepatch?

Why is it spelled "Nie R" everywhere, when the official North American title has a lowercase "r" and this Wiki favors North American nomenclature?

Is it just me, or do all the accusations being piled on Nier seem a little extreme? He's basically being painted as the true villain of the story, and some descriptions of him border on Complete Monster.

Sure, Nier goes to extreme lengths for Yonah's sake, and he kills a lot of Shades. But as far as he's concerned, they really are Always Chaotic Evil: he knows no better. He only learned at the very end that Shades were once human, and he can't understand their speech either so he doesn't know they can feel. As far as he's concerned, he's doing everyone a favor killing these mindless creatures. It's like condemning him for killing the sheep and deer, only the Shades appear to actually pose a threat most of the time.

The point is, can Nier really be held wholly responsible for what he did when he was ignorant of the full implications?

Wow, first of all, thanks to everyone who's been contributing! It's so rewarding to see one of my favourite games get so much loving attention.

I was thinking, since the page is full to bursting with tropes at the moment, that it would be a good idea to create a character page. What does everybody else think?
