\\\"If a character has done something horrible, unforgivable, or disastrously stupid, and in the course of \\\'\\\'\\\'fighting to undo the damage is redeemed or rights their situation\\\'\\\'\\\', then they will die. Badly.\\\"

I full-well admit that Freeze was never particularly villainous in the first place, and he only went out to kill the people who\\\'d wronged him horribly, but at no point did he go out of his way to actively repair the damage he\\\'d caused. He took his fatal battle damage \\\'\\\'before\\\'\\\' he saved Terry from Blight, taking the big shock and then coming back after a few minutes for the dramatic rescue after Blight turned his back; he took the killing blow before he saved Batman\\\'s life, not \\\'\\\'because\\\'\\\' of it or as a result of it. Even saving Batman at the end wasn\\\'t a repudiation of his past actions, just a desire not to bring Batman down with him.

It\\\'s one thing to go \\\"Oh, this isn\\\'t helping, I\\\'m not going to kill anybody else and my vengeance has been a sterile, wasted enterprise\\\" and another to go \\\"Oh, this isn\\\'t helping, I\\\'m going to actively turn over a new leaf and right the wrongs I have previously done, oh no, I\\\'m dead soon after making this realization.\\\"
