Can we just get rid of this whole "ARTS" stuff and just replace it with MOBA? I felt like anyone insisting to use ARTS is just hardcore Dota players who were considerably salty on how League terms things out. We should be more open-hearted and not indulging in this whole fandom war and just go ahead and use the more catch-term: MOBA, instead of being an elitist prick and use 'ARTS'. What do you think?

Can anyone direct to me on why the Dota 2 character pages are now merged to just the stats, not side + stats?

Looking at the character page, I feel like the pre-trope descriptions are somewhat lacking. I feel that instead of copy pasting their lore, Heroes should get proper descriptions based on their gameplay and a bit of story, written with that TV Tropes flair, similarly to League of Legends. Would anyone else be up for this?

The new client has short descriptions for each hero's gameplay in the "About" tab. We could use that. No need to get rid of the lore.

So lately, I've been wondering if Broodmother might qualify for some degree of Anti-Villain. It's true that she portrays herself as villainous in some of her lines, and the descriptions in her The Brood Queen and Steelweb of Pytheos item sets seem to imply that she doesn't have the highest morals. However, her back story states that she has been perfectly content to remain underground and raise her young for at least a millennia. (Speaking of perhaps Really 700 Years Old should be added) And even when Ptholopthales constructed his lodestone ziggurat thingy and started attracting adventurers, (This location being chosen with the intend of using her spider young to drive them off by the way) Broodmother's first action was to attempt to negotiate a compromise, only resorting to violence when he refused to listen. So I think it would be safe to argue that all Broodmother wants is for her and her young to be left alone and that any evil acts she commits is done with the intent of keeping her young safe.

Sorry if this topic is super flawed by the way, this is my first time attempting to be involved in editing on TV Tropes.

Several Skill Gate Character entries are... not accurate. I am going to go to the character pages and remove a few.

Removed the entries for Sniper, Drow Ranger, and Zeus. The entry for Abaddon probably needs significant trimming if not removal, but I don't feel qualified to do that at the moment.

I wonder if we should add Big "NO!"! because it is shouted if the hero dies or the hero loses the battle.

Umm what the hell happened to the description? I seem to distinctly remember an updated description before, but it has since been changed to what appears to be an older, pre-release one. All the tropes seem to be intact. Did I just hallucinate that other description?

Regarding this entry:

  • Double Standard: DotA 2 has a "pause" feature in case someone has to go away from the computer for one reason or another. The existing Double Standard is that whenever the missing person is on their team, they wait...but whenever the missing person is on your team, they'll force-unpause the game.
    • Now averted thanks to the Diretide shop bug, of which the only way to fix it was to quit out of the game. Most players experienced it and had to reconnect to game, so people are now much more patient in such situations.

While this is a very weak example of a Double Standard, polutropon, your edit reason for removing it doesn't make sense...there's no apparent English issue here. Now, let's talk about the bigger issue - what's happening in the history looks like the makings of an Edit War. This should've been brought to the discussion page to hash out before it got to the point that someone had to holler it.

Alright then. The only other problems I see are the example indentation and perhaps the word aversion, since it's likely that not everyone will be patient despite the bug. What if the example was rewritten like so-

  • Double Standard: DotA 2 has a pause feature in case someone has to go away from the computer for one reason or another. The existing Double Standard is that whenever the missing person is on their team, they wait- but whenever the missing person is on your team, they'll force-unpause the game. This has lessened with the onset of the Diretide shop bug, a screen-filling problem whose only fix was to quit out of the game. Most players experienced it and had to reconnect to game, so they are now much more patient in such situations.

How does that look?
