Here is the place to ask if you want edits made to a locked page
Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need SummaryIt think it would be fun to point out that Paul Watson, the leader of the group, was kicked out of Greenpeace for being too extreme in the description or under Animals Wrong Group to show extreme they are. If Greenpeace says you're too extreme; you ARE too extreme.
Srg. Dornan: Troper, what are you doing here?! Get back to your post!!!New Edits needed- There a mini series and 2 new seasons out. Obviously we'll need to stress the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgement, but we should have a section for Viking shores, and there will also be a "Seal Wars" out soon.
I'm baaaaaaack Hide / Show RepliesNot to mention needing to add Giant Wall of Watery Doom for what happened to the Brigitte Bardot in the last season.
It really bothers me that this page is locked while it is so obviously biased. If it's going to be locked, it needs to be edited by a mod for neutrality and factual correctness. Ether that, or it needs to be deleted.
Hide / Show Repliesassuming you mean fixing the parts about them not caring about safety, and someother issuses, yea. i dont mean to take sides here, but they have a better safty record then Greenpeace and the whaling fleet. no serious injuries, no deaths, while greenpeace has lost a few people and the whaling fleet has lost at least three crewmen.
I'm baaaaaaackNot to mention one episode had the whalers issue a mayday call when they were prop-fouled, and then ATTACK the Sea Shepherds when they approached to render aid as per maritime law.
""disabling" means attempting to sink or scuttle the ships, in the middle of the ocean, which could certainly result in casualties"
i know were not here to fight over everything but they dont and never try to sink other ships in open ocean. disabling really means trying to tangle the prop which would justgetem stuck.
I'm baaaaaaack Hide / Show Replies•Moral Myopia: is wrong too. they obivosly state there not trying to kill anyone or sink em. theyve never even hurt anyone(minuss claims from guys who shoot canon of whoknowswhat(most think pepper sray) into the wind at them.) only times they even tried to to inport.
and if these are going to be included, you might want to included how they shot watson. other wise just turn down the claims of one side a bit.
I'm baaaaaaackIve had to explain this to many many people, disabling the propelor actually puts the wailers in quite a bit of risk they are traveling in waters laden with icebergs large enough to sink one of these ships, the fleet is so spread out that an iceberg hitting them while immobile is a big risk its not trying to sink the ships but it is in the very least negligent to human life.
But there not trying to sink ships, or kill people. while theres risk, the abosolute, shot in a million worst thing that happens is they have to get rescued by one of the other whaling ships. and unlike most people, ive been on ships my whole life, if you stuck and an ice berg bump you, you not going down. the threat from icebergs is A, glance one on the side at a decent speed ala the Titanic, B being crushed between large flowes/bergs which would mean them being abandoned in the middle of the antartic by everyone, including there ships, for weeks. the Sea Shepherds CAN't propfoul near that kind of ice because there small boats cant operated there.
I'm baaaaaaackMadhammerer - In regards to them shooting Watson, the facts just do not support that. I've shot firearms my whole life and even a .22 caliper pistol would at least penetrate that flimsy little shield he had to some extent. He didn't even flinch when it happened.
Regardless of the practices of the anti-whaling activists, what needs to be remembered is that this is a *television show*. If these people deliberately sought to sink and/or destroy whaling vessels, then no network on Earth would be stupid enough to give them their own TV show. It would be like giving an Al Qaida cell their own reality show, and the film crew just standing by and observing as they murdered their prisoners. It's July 2012. Suck it up, and remove that biased crap from the main page already.
Not an example. This one's purely fictional because it's failures that should be impossible, such as being so bad at making a bowl of cereal that it catches fire.
- Epic Fail:
- Due to badly-timed maneuvering, Sea Shepherd's state-of-the-art trimaran collides a whaling vessel and sinks. Cue both sides accusing each other of deliberate ramming and piracy.
- Crewman admits to being ordered to ram the whaling ship in order to garner sympathy.
The black and grey/grey and grey/evil versus evil thing (second entry) is veeery much YMMV, even stated to be so in the entry.
Hide / Show RepliesTrue, should be in YMMV.though its more of YMW(Will)V
I'm baaaaaaack
I don't think the "Animal Wrongs group" trope is an accurate description of Sea Shepherd. They don't value animal lives more than human lives, and have even rescued whalers from sinking ships before. Can someone please remove that from the page?
