If it the game is designed to be unwinnable regardless of situation, that's Unwinnable Joke Game, even if it's serious but for the art.
If it's possible but there's a way to make the game unwinnable, Unwinnable by Design.
You'll notice the Wheel of Time example appears on both pages, thus there's plenty of overlap.

I have made separate heading for fictional examples but I am unsure of whether the following example belongs under the new heading:
- Super Kingio Bros is a version of Super Mario Bros with the King of Town replacing Mario. Unfortunately, he can't jump high enough to pass the first Goomba, so it's probably just as well that you don't actually get the three lives shown.
Unwinnable Non-joke Game
I'd say a few of these games also qualify as art games as well as joke games, but where would games that are unwinnable by design but NOT jokes go? They are to make a point, or just for the art. I can't think of any specific ones at the moment, but I know they exist. Where would these go? Would they go on this page, or unwinnable by design, or would they get their own category?
