"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis page had changed a lot. I would think corporate acquisition/merger typically negatively affect the product and workforce. New owners will sell inferior existing or discontinue loyal products to cut costs or competition.
Edited by manepony101This article implies that all fans complaining about a change in a work are either whining about trivial things (at best) or flat-out wrong (at worst). Hell, combined with It's the Same, So It Sucks, the message is "the complainer is always wrong". Isn't that a bit lopsided?
Hide / Show RepliesThat's not what lopsided means. If only one of the two "sucks" tropes were portrayed negatively, THEN it would be lopsided.
I'm surprised that nobody brought up the Grand Theft Auto series, specifically when it transitioned from the old GTA III engine to the more realistic, shinier, laggier-on-PC RAGE engine. I've heard all sorts of complaints from friends that Rockstar has made the game too realistic, though I personally like both the cartoonish (pre-GTA IV) AND realistic styles (post-GTA IV).
At the time of this topic's writing, Rockstar has only released their first trailer for GTA V, which is apparently going to be another realistic GTA game.
I have a signature!?Does this trope apply when the change is made on the soundtrack/background music or on the special effects, but still retain the story? 'Coz the definition doesn't cover these kinds of changes. If not, can anyone help me find the appropriate trope? Much appreciated.
I'm trying to find a quote that I think was on this page sometime between November and December 2010 about Live Action TV. If I recall correctly, it was about Mad TV and meant something to the effect of, if you liked the show, the first season was the best and if you didn't, the best season was the one right before you started watching. If anyone else remembers this, a link to it would be very much appreciated.
This page is being split due to length. It has reached a size where it is in danger of causing server performance issues. See this thread for details.
To alleviate this, I split off the current content along the lines of the current folder structure. New examples should be placed in the appropriate media sub-pages.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!I have a question...why has the search bar been removed from the site's pages? It's making it harder to navigate and find the trope pages I need to reference...
Hide / Show RepliesThis page reeks of The Complainer Is Always Wrong. Recommending some sort of overhaul to make it a bit less abrasive.
"Wax on, wax off..." "But Mr. Miyagi, I don't see how this is helping me do Karate..." "Pubic hair is weakness, Daniel-san!" Hide / Show RepliesAfter rereading this page for a while, does anybody else think the examples section really has no reason to exist?
