Was the fate of Troy McClure or Lionel Hutz ever mentioned, or were they simply dropped?

That statement that this entry should be trivia and not a trope is false. Whether a character survives the death of the actor who played it is a decision made by the scriptwriters and director. That makes it a trope.

Actually, it needs to appear in the story as well. That the death of a character isn't a function of the plot but of actor events is Trivia, not a trope.

They actually did kill off Edna Krabappel after Marcia Wallace's death. I know the recent Simpsons episode had Ned Flanders think about the memory when he and Edna were tango dancing. After that flashback, Ned looks at the picture of Edna and Sadly remarks "I sure do miss that laugh!" And Nelson Muntz the school bully remarks "Ha-Ha! I miss her too!" We know Ned Flanders is wearing a black armband on his arm since he is now a widower (For the 2nd time, The first time was when Maude Flanders died). The episode was called "The Man who Grew Too Much." Here is the source: http://simpsonswiki.com/wiki/Edna_Krabappel

Yeah, no one's questioning that. I think the guy who yanked it didn't read the example very well.

  • Guilty Gear Kaneto Shiozawa, who voiced Zato-1, died after the second game. As a result, Milia canonically killed Zato-1. While the character technically stayed in the series, it was now Zato-1's corpse possessed by the parasite that gave him his powers, Eddie (under which name the character has appeared since), voiced by Takehito Koyasu. This also happened with Hyo of Rival Schools, who was also voiced by Shiozawa. As of Xrd, this is no longer the case for Zato.

Could those who know the game please sort out whether this is an example or not?

Soooo... has there been a verdict on whether this is a trope or not? Should the entries be moved to the trivia page or what?

When did Law & Order do a tribute episode for Jerry Orbach? I don't remember one, and checking fan pages for the series show a lot of comments that there should be one, or that it's a shame there wasn't one, but no evidence that there was one.

This page seems to be contradicting itself. It has the trivia banner, which states that it isn't a trope, but then the description insists that it is a trope because the plot is affected by the death of the actor.

I'd also like to wonder if some of the examples where a character is removed from the show after the actor's death, but there's no explanation for why they're not around anymore, shouldn't count, since it seems like this should be only cases where the character is specifically stated to be dead.

Does anyone have any source for the rumor that Word Of God says the Joker was executed offscreen between The Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises? Wikipedia makes no mention of this, and a google search doesn't turn up anything. And the movie itself never mentions Joker at all, preferring to leave the issue as the proverbial elephant in the room.

The Danny Thomas show was the first to do this. I'd add. It myself, but the iPad won't let me scroll down while editing
