On a related note Gordita Chronicles doesn’t have it’s on page on Tv Tropes I’d like to creat that but I’m not sure how you create Tv Tropes so if someone can help me with that that would be great
Where should works like Coco and The Book of Life go? They're clearly set in Mexico, not the US, but are created at least in part by American companies and creators (Guillermo del Toro is Mexican, but I'm not sure you can call the whole film Mexican).
Hide / Show RepliesWe've had the discussion and we agreed at the works have to be set in America
I already voted. 5 is all it needs to be launched right? I was the 8th, so that means it's good to go.
Edited by RT1986I launched it a while back, but it got sent back because the TLP creator keeps sitting on it for some reasons. It should be good to go now...
In the interest of gender neutrality, this should really be renamed to Latin-American or Latinx-American Media.
Hide / Show RepliesLatin is too broad, as it includes many groups that are not Latino. Latinx is an English convention. In Spanish Latino is gender neutral unless otherwise stated.
Should Invader Zim be added? The Membranes are (really pale) Mexicans according to the creator.
I am adding El Santo, Antonino Rocca, Pampero Firpo, La Parka, Silver King, Pentagón Jr., Rosa Mendes and The Lucha Brothers on the basis Alberto Del Rio and Héctor Guerrero are a Mexican nationals, so we're clearly not limiting ourselves to latinos who are US nationals.
If we are, or I am otherwise wrong, feel free to let me know.
Edited by IndirectActiveTransport Hide / Show RepliesWe are limiting to those who at least have US residency. I didn't add them so I don't know, but according to Wikipedia Alberto del Rio is a naturalized citizen of the US as of 2018. If the others
Edited by SynchronicityOkay, nationality nomenclature is not indicative without context. "USA" takes less time to type than "American" and clears up ambiguity, since even in the Spanish speaking countries of Latin America the USA's initials are well known and understood.
In my personal opinion USA Nationality, rather than residence, should be required. For one, I'm assuming we're talking about the phenomenon of having a different or additional national identity to the official USA nationality. For another, if ethnic and national indexes must be a thing, we might as well have a "migrant media" for immigrants, migrant workers, refugees and such. I had not even gotten around to adding Místico, who lived in the USA for at least a couple years, then left. I see now that he shouldn't be listed but that's not uncommon among migrant workers, and it is par the course for pro wrestling(Lance Storm was a Canadian with US residence, who then left. Taka Michinoku, a Japanese man who lived in Puerto Rico for awhile, then left. Chris Jericho, Dark Angel, they lived in Mexico for a bit, then left) but the message I'm taking away is that every Latino who lived in the US for awhile is not what this index is trying to represent.
Beyond my personal opinion, Black Rose was deleted but should be on this index if we're going to have it. Most Puerto Ricans are US Nationals, who should be on it by default. Back to my opinion, that's why I think it should be limited to US Nationals, or at least have an asterisk by non US Nationals listed, similar to something like Black Panther on the "African American" index, considering the largely default Puerto Ricans are the second largest and most easily identifiable group of "Latino Americans", as we're calling them.
I want to add Gordita Chronicles but I’m not sure what genre that show would be considered
