This trope seems to be basically a Take That! against every state change that didn't take place in the USA.
OMNIA RESOLVITUR DIALECTICE Hide / Show RepliesNo? How do you figure? Or do you not actually have a legitimate point, and just want to bash the country?
Just look at the discussion below. The example against Washington was removed, and there was no problem. There are some examples in the real life section that need to be cut in the same way.
OMNIA RESOLVITUR DIALECTICEIf you feel there are examples that don't fit and should be cut, then you should say that, and list those examples you think are problematic.
You didn't do that. You wrote an accusation that the page is biased. Which does nothing to get the page improved, all it does is make it look like you've got some kind of agenda.

I'm getting Square Peg Round Trope vibes from this, as well as either Unfortunate Implications from doing so, or a deliberate Take That! toward Americans. Here's why:
- Alpsman's example focuses entirely on George Washington's status among the American people after his death. Unless George Washington can control minds from beyond the grave, this is outside the trope entirely.
- George Washington was the man who set the precedent for stepping down from office after two terms. It was only amended into the Constitution after Franklin Delano Roosevelt died, as he was the only president to break Washington's example.
- A Glorious Leader, by the trope definition, may seek wars of aggression through implausible pretexts just to prove its military strength. George Washington, on the other hand, sought neutrality in foreign wars.
- By putting George Washington as an example of this trope, Alpsman (whether intentionally or not) has called Americans Gullible Lemmings who elected him or wildly applauded his coup d'etat of a previous government. That is so not how the American Revolution went.
Think before you trope, people.
Hide / Show RepliesThe Real Life section is filled with Unfortunate Implications anyway.

Whenever I see these two words, I tend to think of Kim Jong Un (or as I prefer to call him, King Jong Un).
