I had an idea recently about achieving this effect in a manga or anime by having the characters only use one first-person singular pronoun and one second-person singular pronoun.
It'd probably just sound weird, though.

Only in manga and anime, you have Eternal Japanese. Only when you have a Period story do you have non-modern Japanese. Edo Period Japanese is apparently still comprehensible to modern speakers.
Thunderbirds are SVB! Or something like that. I can't remember the actual terms, but the old T-Birds puppet show had some made up slang.
