There is MUCH worse out there. Foot fetishism is pretty normal and tame.

I am quite surprised that there are so many examples of this documented.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.

The current caption isn't needed, and adds nothing to the picture. While the person who reposted argues that it shows the trope is the character paying attention to her feet, that's not very clear, and typically Foot Focus comes into play when it's the CAMERA focusing on the bare feet, not the characters. Tangled for example, is full of Foot Focus, but no one in the film ever mentions Rapunzel's feet. It's the camera that decides if it's Focus or not. This caption feels like just fluff, and is just redundant.

I removed the following from the article because it doesn't say whether or not the camera ever focuses on the feet. If anyone has seen the show, and they definitely add closeups, please modify the examples to mention them before adding these back. As it is, they are describing Does Not Like Shoes.

  • In the Ironside episode "The Man Who Believed", Ironside investigates the mysterious death of a beautiful hippie songstress who was known for going barefoot.
    • Another Ironside episode, "Once More for Joey", also features a barefoot hippie musician getting killed, but this one is male.

Thanks, Mark Lungo. I couldn't find a way to watch such an old show to check.

You're welcome! Actually, "The Man Who Believed" is available on Hulu. The closeup is at the 2:08 mark.

I think we really need to stick with the anglicized spellings. It's consistent with our policy to use English titles for shows.

From the archive (author unknown):

"It is speculated that feet are the second most frequently fetishized body part, right after breasts."

Seriously? Is there a source for that? Cause I would think that honor would go to the ass.

I mean, Mexico, Central America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, the Carribean, the Meditteraean, Atlanta, Miami...all very bootycentric beauty cultures. The only footcentric one I can think of offhand is the old Chinese foot-binding thing.

It is actually the most fetishized body part—amongst people who believe they have a fetish. Things like breasts, ass, and legs are so mainstream as to not be considered fetishes, even though they are not directly connected with procreative sex.
