To FINALLY settle this matter, I've moved the Real Life folders to the "Just For Fun" page. Hopefully, no one decides to put them back on the main page.
if you don't want real life examples then maybe add a "no real life examples please" ?
Gotta agree, it's bothersome that it keeps getting removed even as a Just For Fun page over a reason that isn't even listed. The least you could do is add a no real life examples if you're that dead-set on pruning it.
Who the heck would erase the real life/Australia sections? Is this some kind of joke? Is there some special snowflake who's too afraid to realize the Truth in Television of this trope?
Edited by Rookiewarrior64 Hide / Show RepliesIt's hyperbole. Pure hyperbole. Hence why it was cut.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell I find it insulting. They were the best sections of the this trope and without 'em this trope feels dead. If we can bring back these sections and take away the hyperbole or at least clarify it to be a subversion, aversion, downplayed, or as an up to eleven then I'm sure these sections could still find a home in this trope.
Okay, "insulting" is a weird choice of words there.
And, while I do think that it's an interesting section... it's like, crazy hyperbole. And shoehorning, really. This is a video game trope about even unlikely things trying to kill the character. Having non-video game examples is running the risk of trope decay, but real-life is just stretching it. Especially since most of them are venomous animals and the like.
But even if I did think it belonged... that section is so poorly written and rife with natter and poor Example Indentation that readding it wouldn't be an option.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Couldn't we just clean it up and throw it into its own sub-section, like Doctor Who specific examples have in the Nth Doctor trope? (Edit: I'm aware this is about a year old in conversation. The question still stands.)
Edited by PandaXclone2Is the Australia section a joke or do you really believe that Australia is a death trap? Just wondering.
Edited by Reddman Hide / Show RepliesWell, I separated it because the section was getting too long, and it got a Made Of Win via my fellow tropers, so...
What made me laugh is that the Australia section is actually longer than the Rest of the World section.
Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, NessWell, I have two friends in different parts of Aussie, and they've said the only creature that hasn't been proven to have killed anything is a marsupial mouse. Double Emphasis on the proven.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettThe Australian section of "Everything Trying To Kill You" seems to have disappeared. I can't find a link to it on the main page.
Probably because it was not entirely credible.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman"Octopodes" is incredibly pedantic. It needs to be changed as to not accidentally fool any reader willing to learn more Latin into thinking that this is either correct or witty.
To clarify, the feet of an "eight foot" are not pluralized, the creature (whose name happens to mean "eight foot") are being pluralized, in a way, the word is now English, and not subject to Latin declension, let alone, a fragment of the name.
It's octopuses.
Hide / Show RepliesOctopodes is a correct way of saying 'more than one octopus.' So is octopuses. Octopi is also correct, even though you didn't mention it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.
Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, Ness, NessShouldnt Games based on the Bible just be under video games? Or is it just getting too long to bother?
T Vtropes is NOT Wikipedia, stop trying to make it that. I'm attacking the darkness!
Someone readded the Real Life folder...*sigh*
