"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis terminology is used well outside this Website, I first heard it form Alex Jones well before I discovered T Vtropes or watch Song of The South.
The origin material for this trope is deeply racist. (I'm not talking about Song of the South, which was subtly racist. The original Uncle Remus stories are absolutely horrific.) It'd be nice if we could rename the trope, but given the term is so embedded in public consciousness I think it's probably a lost cause at this point. I just try not to use the phrase myself.
