What is the connection to the actual example?

Space Is Cold:
- The hand was crushed by an access hatch (or something) on a malfunctioning spaceship, and stuck. Even if vacuum doesn't transfer energy all that well, metal does. It's a testament to Star Wars medicine he didn't lose the arm.
