Does this count as one? Seems too specific for a Game Breaekr.
- Inkay can be obtained right on the first route, and it learns its signature Topsy-Turvy attack early on. With the Totem and UB battles basing their difficultly on certain instant stat boosts, this can turn the majority of them into a complete joke by permanently turning the stat boosts into stat drops if it gets a single opening to use it, with it being particularly devastating on the last battles, where every stat gets boosted, thus Topsy-Turvy will leave them completely helpless. And to add insult to injury, comes with Reflect by default, further leaving the high majority of them unable to scratch it nor the rest of the team, regardless of wether they had attacking boosts to invert or not. It comes especially handy against Ultra Necrozma, who shouldn't be able to KO a properly trained Malamar and can immediately cut in half its damage output and bulk. Inkay also comes with STAB Foul Play to turn the enemy's ATK against them with a massively powerful attack for earlygame.
- In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl as well as Platinum, Chimchar itself is a major game breaker as a starter compared to Turtwig and Piplup. That fire monkey has very good offensive stats, is definitely quite quick, learns some very powerful moves (Flame Wheel and Mach Punch early on, Flare Blitz and Close Combat later on), and will easily be your preferred party member in more than half the gyms, and in in Diamond and Pearl, Chimchar is the only fire type you can acquire outside of trading or pal park besides the much weaker Ponyta. The other options for starters, Turtwig and Piplup, are average to say the best, as they sacrifice power and speed for defense, and their types are much less useful for the gyms in the Sinnoh region, which is dominated by types Fire and Fighting are strong against.
I deleted this because I didn't think it was a good example of a Game-Breaker. If you disagree, discuss it here.
Edited by VeryMelon Hide / Show RepliesI'd say he's more an example of Character Select Forcing due to the fact there's only one other Fire-type, but unlike Speed-Boost Mega-Blaziken not really a game breaker, just a better choice.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. What is so wrong with the Funbro entry that it doesn't count as an example?
Edited by VeryMelon Hide / Show RepliesI dunno. Messaged them.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI know this is old, but I realized the Funbro wasn't really a gamebreaker so it's fine if it's gone from this page.
I would like to point out that Lucario doesn't learn Mach Punch. I know, it learns Extremespeed.
I'm going to try and add the remaining Ubers from Gens I-V. If something is wrong (Everything I'm going to write is based on what I find on Google), please, PLEASE, don't just remove it. Edit it to make sure it's right.
Swagger is actually a Generation II move and Swagger got banned in Generation VI by Smogon.
This page really needs to differentiate between in-game Game Breakers and competitive Game Breakers, since the 2 have completely different definitions.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Hide / Show RepliesOkay, those were taken care of. Instead I'll move some of the entries to Disk One Nuke.
Edited by 71.126.176.128Alright, I'm just going to cull entire generations if necessary if I don't find their examples to fit the Laconic of Gamebreaker which is: Beating the game just became ridiculously easy.
There is also still too much overlap between in-game and official/unofficial examples. Those too will be sorted out.
Edited by 173.73.9.103Whoever is adding Mega Evolutions like Mega Aggron and Mega Venusaur, please stop. Mega Aggron is nowhere near OU at the moment, and the leader of Smogon's OU Council has personally told me that Mega Venusaur is NOT being suspected anytime soon. [1] I would also appreciate it if Mega Lucario stays off the list until it has actually been banned, which might not happen for a few months (assuming it doesn't pass the suspect test).
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I wouldn't worry about Mega Lucario coming back here even officially. It's not as over-centralizing as Mega Kangaskhan was and doesn't have and exploitable auto-win like Mega Gengar does.
I just noticed that the entirety of Gen II is missing. I'm pretty sure that there's something in there that qualifies, if only in-game.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Yeah I took care of that. The only examples in the gen 2 tab were competitive, so it had to go. I haven't seen an in-game Gamebreaker listed specifically for gen 2 yet.
I deleted those. One fell under the universal example of "trade from another (completed) game" while the other one was more or less impossible to actually accomplish.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Ah, good catch then. Actually I'll move wondertrading to Gameplay Derailment since it's the same as what regular trading can do.
Edited by 173.73.9.103I noticed somebody deleted an example for Genesect. I'm too lazy to put it back in atm, but I'd like to know why it was removed, since it was banned by Smogon in Gen V (and might be banned again [1]). Also of note is that Mega Lucario is almost certainly getting the ban hammer when the same suspect test finishes on the 9th, so I just wanted to give a heads up.
EDIT: After rereading the change log, I noticed that only part of the Genesect example was removed (I read too fast x_x), concerning U-Turn. U-Turn is arguably what makes Genesect so dangerous to deal with, since it lets the players go on autopilot and grab massive momentum. I'm not going to re-add it yet in case anybody wants to dispute it, but I think that it should be left it.
EDIT 2: Also, does Audino qualify as a Game-Breaker? It's just an big sack of EXP, and it still requires grinding to abuse. It just seems like it's too Boring, but Practical to be game breaking.
Edited by 76.90.17.49 If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I put the U-Turn info back. I though the Genesect entry was fine without it at first. I guess Audino could go.
I suggest that somebody should write up an entry for Mega Lucario to add for Lucarionite's pretty inevitable ban, but don't add it yet.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Another heads up for those who care: the "Swag Play" strategy has been put up for discussion on whether or not it should be banned. http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/swagplay-evaluating-potential-bans-basic-definition-of-uncompetitive-in-op.3500620/ If it does get banned, it should be noted that it wasn't because it was "broken", but because it is uncompetitive (read the first post for the definition of "uncompetitive" being used) for forcing a Luck-Based Mission in a (slightly) similar vein to Evasion by taking away control and giving unskilled players the ability to beat opponents they would normally be unable to due to abuse of hax. I just wanted to clarify that for future reference.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? That reminds me, should we list the "Fun Bro" strategy for the same reason?
Yeah, probably. It makes it literally impossible to win if it gets going.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Um, no, they're still suspecting it right now.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Okay, NOW Swagger is officially banned from Smogon OU. http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/look-xy-ou-suspect-process-round-2-swag-swagger-banned-to-ubers-look.3502265/page-3#post-5359702
YES. And with a super-majority, too!
Edited by 75.84.1.237 If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Swagger was recently banned from Ubers. The entries for Double Team, OHKO moves, Moody, and Swagger also need to be rewritten to emphasize that they are not necessarily broken, but were banned for being uncompetitive (removing skill from the game completely due to invoking a Luck-Based Mission). I can't do it myself since I'm on vacation and writing on an iPod, so I'd really appreciate if someone would get on that.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?My edit didn't work, so double posting. Refrain from adding the Baton Pass nerf for now since there's a noticeable Broken Base about whether the nerf succeed or actually made things worse.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Baton Pass is now limited to 1 Mon per team and Full BP is dead. Feel free to add t if I don't later (I need to sleep). Also a heads up that the Deos were banned and Aegislash is now being tested.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Are you sure that counts? 1. The prize you will get is based on luck. 2. Even if you're lucky enough, you will only get just one Master Ball, regardless of the levels you selected.
- The third attraction on the Pokémon Global Link, Mine Cart Adventure, can give Master Balls as prizes. The ability to get infinite Master Balls means every Pokémon in the game can be caught instantly.
After playing it myself, I realized Master Balls appear way too rarely for them to be a game breaker, so thanks for removing it for me.
The Master Ball itself was never a Game-Breaker anyway. I can't really explain this adequately, but even if you cheated a bunch in the game doesn't really become easier, just less time consuming.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Maybe we should move the details about how AG tier works from Mega Rayquaza entry to the Smogon article instead. The only thing we should keep is Mega Rayquaza is so broken that Smogon has to ban it from Uber and create a new tier call AG.
Should we put a page image up of Mega Rayquaza? Given that they banned it from the banlist, it fits better than even Mewtwo himself (although the page quote is still fair play).
Hide / Show RepliesThat's odd. Nobody has written an entry about Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre yet. Especially Primal Groudon.
Hide / Show RepliesNot every legendary Pokemon will get a write-up just because. You want one? You'll have to write it yourself.
Pulled this:
- The Game Boy Color version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, faithful to the original game, had hundreds of cards that relied on a coin flip. For example, the Poké Ball card allows a player to search their deck for any Pokémon and put it into their hand, but only if a coin flip comes up heads. This was not in itself unbalanced, but the problem came when the game's coin flipping system was not randomized. A player with a good sense of timing could earn a favorable result on every coin flip. This made cards like Vileplume◊ and Kangaskhan◊ able to destroy an opponent in just a few turns.
Because while the coin flips aren't randomized, they're also not determined by the player. They're a predetermined order, so if if goes heads, heads, tails, it'll always be that order.

I made this post by mixing high grade sentences with Pokémon, um you know. Hide / Show RepliesThey are, and they have been accepted by the community as one for many years. Don't remove that edit note again.

I think Ogerpon can be a game breaker. Mostly through the Hearthflame Mask. It has a good type combo plus mold breaker which can make it a deadly Pokémon. People have been comparing this little one to Urshifu. Saying it’s like a successor.
