Miscellaneous

  • Nhaz Ul: Two aspects of Ron's plotline over the course of the books. One, he is constantly prevented from joining Harry and/or Hermione on adventures. To list:
    • First book: a baby dragon bite puts him in the Hospital Wing while the others are serving detention in the Forbidden Forest.
    • Second book: his wand is broken and causes his spells to screw up, not to mention cuts him off from Harry while he fights the basilisk.
    • Third book: suffers a broken leg while Harry and Hermione travel back in time to save Sirius and Buckbeak.
    • Fifth book: during the battle in the Department of Mysteries falls into a vat of brains and is incapacitated for the entire fight.
And while all these incidents may have been a case of enforced Sidekick Glass Ceiling and used to shake him out of his glory-hounding ways, the second issue with his plot is his lack of Character Development until the end of Book 7. Ron could have learned his lesson from Book 4 that being Overshadowed by Awesome isn't a reason to abandon your best friend and put up a fight against the locket's manipulations. Instead, his jealousy and envy of Harry get the better of him once again. _________

I know that you can't argue with DMOS but i'm curious to know if there are canon evidences that Umbridge got raped by the centaures?

IIRC, she gets dragged away rather forcefully, acts like someone who has been traumatized in the aftermath given her centaur-phobia, and mythological centaurs are known to be rape machines. While I doubt Rowling would actually have it happen, there's a certain uncomfortable subtext that one could have if you have at least a Hollywood understanding of PTSD combined with a knowledge of centaur mythology.

My headcanon is that the centaurs psychologically tormented her, dangling that bit of knowledge in front of her and let her draw her own conclusions. My understanding is that Umbridge isn't actually physically harmed which would be difficult to pull off if you're a horse-sized creature forcing himself on a small woman.

Do the Potter-verse centaurs rape people, though? If centaurs committed that that kind of behavior in general, wouldn't the wizarding world be aware of the issue? It's been a while since I've read the series, so I don't remember everyone's name, but there was one centaur who started teaching a class after Umbridge fired Trelawney. Dumbledore makes some iffy decisions, but I don't don't know if he'd allow a potential rapist to teach his students. Furthermore, wouldn't Umbridge use it to make an objection toe centaur being allowed to teach in the first place?
