I'm very concerned about this entry that I've removed (moved here for the sake of speed), which seems to be assuming a lot when it comes to this game. A previous attempt to counter this wound up being Natter, and while it was rightfully removed, the editor who removed it did so on the grounds that it's "BS".

Anyways, this entry claiming that Snake knew that Ocelot was Adamska seems to be assuming a lot, as I mentioned. Snake does seem to be an Unwitting Pawn used by both sides, but I'm also not sure if I'm being biased here.

  • What most players fail to realize is that Jack fully understands Adamska's role as his supposed NSA, (really CIA - Philosopher - KGB) contact and supporter, the enigmatic ADAM. Throughout the game, both men aid and evolve each other's perspectives. Jack imparting wise combat skill and raw survival prowess and Adamska channeling over the subtlety and ultimate facade of a master spy and triple-agent. So although Naked Snake is naive of the lengths his mentor will go for her country, right to the very end, he is not towards the machinations of EVA/Tanya and Ocelot, employing one of the greatest instances of a guileless nature to fool EVA into thinking he underestimates her. This is why Ocelot and Snake undertake so many awesome gambits throughout the game: their meetings as opposing combatants, the build-up of a famous rivalry, his constantly trying to bump off Tanya as he sees her as a threat to his fellow agent, placing the tracker in Jack's wound to have another shot at her and to return the Tsuchinoko. (Who else could have done it?!) Ocelot also deliberately misses three times during the motorcycle chase, an impossibility considering his marksmanship abilities (but disarms EVA of her main sidearm) and Snake repays him by saving him from falling debris with an RPG-7 rocket. The finale of this fantastic double act is the concluding CQC tumble, where Ocelot proves his brilliance against the co-creator of the art and also plants a false micro-film on Snake's clothing during the fight; since we see Jack looking at the real film that contains half of the Philosopher's Legacy while listening to EVA's confession the morning after. It was all a game to those two! And like the real Biblical reference, the Serpent and Adam are a lot better off than the first poor woman, who is punished far beyond them by God for her initial transgressions. Snake's posture is not one of betrayal when he smokes his cigar but one of guilt since he knows EVA is likely to be killed by her superiors for her failure to secure the Legacy for China but like the Boss, his loyalty was to her and the US. Circles within circles within circles, but the relationship between Ocelot and Snake is absolutely fascinating and undeniably awesome, and it caps one of the greatest video game stories ever made.
Ocelot: Yes it's me... The Boss has accomplished her mission. The Philosopher's Legacy is now safely with us, in America's hands. With this money... Yes, the Philosophers can finally be revived. The film we handed the Chinese was a fake, heh, Peking must be in an uproar right about now. I'm afraid so, only half the money has made it back to the United States. The KGB must still have part of the Legacy... Yes, the weapon has been reduced to ashes... That's right, Groznyj Grad has been obliterated by the Davy Crockett we brought in as well. Yes, that was the Boss' work too! Speaking of which, I've obtained something from Granin that you might find interesting, it's a revolutionary new nuclear attack system. Perhaps it might just come in handy someday... yes, we have John - I mean Snake, to thank for that. Khrushchev believed it as well. yes, they bought our story, I don't think they'll be making a fuss. The secondary alert has been lifted as well. And the Soviets still haven't discovered by true identity. They have no idea that I've been triple-crossing them. I will continue my activities as a contact for the new government... Yes, it appears that no-one knew I was ADAM. Of course, I am always at the CIA's disposal; Mr. Director.
