Cavill is not an Advertised Extra. His character's death is the catalyst of the main plot, bringing him back to life is a major plot point, and he plays a vital role assisting the other heroes against Steppenwolf.

I'd argue that the Flash is an Adaptational Badass. In "Josstice League", Barry is... well, an idiot ("I've never done battle! I've just pushed some people and run away!"). Even if we disregard how much more powerful he is in the Snyder Cut, he is presented as much more competent, courageous and intelligent than his previous portrayal. All the other entries seem forced, though.

So, what do we do about this?

I'm starting to wonder if we just need a damn ZSJL thread at this point because I've seen so many things about it come through here, but for now cut everything except the Eisenberg AE example and the Flash AB example - cite this ATT in the edit reason. Everything else is shoehorned.

Edit: Actually, don't cut The Batman example yet - take it to the Is this an Example? thread first. That one might be worth something.

↓ I wouldn't go that far - the YMMV page has things like a long Padding entry, Special Effects Failure, five counts of Narm, Strangled by the Red String, WTH, Costuming Department? just to name a few - but the pages are attracting a fair amount of misuse overall.

I feel like the entry work's pages need evaluation. Like anytime there seems to be edits it causes problems, especially with YMMV where people are just removing any form of criticism of the film, like how Iridener seems to be policing it in case criticisms are added.

Confirmed. The page has been modified and I also brought the Batman example over to the Is this an example? thread as STARCRUSHER99 asked.

Tropers Emerald Source and Netherman 14 modified the Adaptational Badass entry with these examples:

  • The Flash is more action oriented, taking on Parademons more directly (with a signature "tap with two fingers" attack) and utilizing Flash Step to save people from falling debris. He is also more confident with his powers, with the range and upper limits more fully explored, culminating in him managing to reverse time by a few seconds to save the League and the rest of the Earth from the Unity.
  • Cyborg is similarly more involved with the action, rebounding from attacks much faster and both his flight and Arm Cannons utilized more effectively. His Techno Path abilities are also given more focus, with just how devastating he could be in the digital age demonstrated and in the climax interfacing with the Unity put him into a Lotus-Eater Machine that tried to tempt and distract him, and he cuts through the lies almost instantly.
  • Batman steps up more to coordinate the team and strategize, making him more visible in the action sequences. He gets tossed around less and his ability to multi-task is increased, making his role in the Final Battle considerably more useful, essentially handling the elimination of Parademons and their defense turrets around Steppenwolf's base all on his own.
  • The Justice League as a whole keeps up with Superman far better once he comes back into the fray, unlike the theatrical cut where he outdoes all of the members and easily defeats Steppenwolf on his own.

These examples were added with no explanation whatsoever. What should we do?

Said this in the forum thread, but while I haven't seen (or plan to see) either version of the movie, the Batman example sounds legit. The main thing that concerns me, though, is whether the Adaptational Whatever tropes really fit in the first place for two different edits of the same underlying movie.

Are we gonna keep them or are we gonna delete them?

The problem is happening again with Steppenwolf, who is listed as Adaptational Badass, Intelligence and Nice Guy. We really need to do something.

The "Snyder Cut" is essentially a remake, so the "adaptational" tropes (which apply to any derivative product, not just medium adaptations) apply to the characters.
