I_Love_People was a sock of dotheroar. Only two edits for My Stuffed Dog Spot, and the first is adding something about stuffed animals to Companion Cube. The other is for Characters. The Simpsons: The Simpson Family, adding on to Maggie's Beware the Quiet Ones example.

Can we check the accounts?

Frankly, I'd be utterly astonished if this editor wasn't sparkles38/dotheroar. The content added to Companion Cube was originally added by sparkles38 over a year ago, and several of their ban evading accounts have tried to re-add it. I've re-deleted it acting on this assumption.

Both edits were reverted, too.

If it isn't, that example needs more context.

Is there not something we can do that's more... effective? Or are we just resigned to play whack-a-mole (which they probably think can talk)?

They need mental help.

It's the nature of the Internet. IPv4 provides a pool of over 4 billion addresses, minus reserved/private ranges, and it's not hard to change IPs. It'll be a long time before we've recorded and blocked or allowed every single possible IP.

Aside from dynamic IP addresses provided by ISPs and mobile networks, proxy and VPN software make it relatively easy to evade IP-based bans, depending on how much work the ban evader in question is willing to put in.

I Ps are tricky: some people have been arrested for internet crimes that they didn't do because of IP overlap.

Also for not securing their modems/etc. with passwords and encryption. So someone committing crimes taps in.

A connection can be tracked to the individual computer the problematic person is using and that device blocked, but that ends when the devices are switched or replaced.
