Creator Killer is supposed to be for works that were either critical or financial failures that caused a creator's career to spiral down. If a creator's career crumbled because they did something horrible, that would fall under Role-Ending Misdemeanor.

I see. Currently some examples include people like Harvey Weinstein.

I don't think 'spent several decades as a secret sexual predator/rapist' counts as a misdemeanor, honestly, but I do agree that Creator Killer should refer to a particular work that tanks a creator's career, not whatever real-life crimes they might have committed.

The trope description for Role-Ending Misdemeanor says: "despite the trope name, some of these role enders are straight-up felonies", so there's a precedent for stretching it to include this kind of thing.

Ah, fair enough in that case.

Bumping this. It seems that other examples on the page refer to controversies unrelated to the quality of the work, such as bankruptcy.

I believe bankruptcy is a valid reason to be counted under Creator Killer on the grounds if a work causes a creator to go out of business preventing them from creating ever again or makes it extremely difficult for them to create again. Bankruptcy is mainly for media businesses like movie production companies or game development studios for example, but sometimes individual creators not a part of a business can find themselves unable to create if they go bankrupt too provided if they released a work that flopped.

I guess all of this merits a TRS thread.

^Done. Created a thread.

Weinstein does not apply for this trope.

This belongs more to Short-term Projects, not TRS. I don't think a change in definition is needed.
