No. A foil is a character who interacts with another character. A replacement can be a foil to one of the remaining characters, even if the character they replaced wasn't, but they are not a Foil to the one they replaced.

I'm wondering if we can put Foil when dealing with a character who replace another character. For example, the three replacement surgeons in M*A*S*H who had very different personalities to their predaccesors. Like how Henry Blake was an The Alleged Boss but Col. Potter was much more athority.
