If my estimates are correct, Valkyria Chronicles series is set in a fictional universe (in this case, it's Europa) which intentionally takes inspiration from different corners of Europe during and after World War II (such as the Empire and Federation being respectively based on the UK and Germany during that time period) as per interviews with the Sega developers.

Also, I might have been confused in my reasoning for removing the Fake Brit entry, since it and the other Fake Nationality tropes might apply to voice acting if a work is set in an actual country (such as Ian Holm using a French accent for Skinner in Ratatouille, which is set in France). For now, I've restored the VC entry.

If the work is set in a fictional universe where British people don't exist, then it doesn't seem as if Fake Brit can apply.

The Fake Nationality tropes do apply to counterpart cultures, IIRC, because they're primarily based on the actor's accent rather than the character's nationality.

For actually faking nationality, you're looking for Fauxreigner.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.

I should mention that the troper deleted the entry again citing ^^. I'm still not sure if that's a valid deletion considering the points laid out ^.

For what it's worth, the description doesn't specifically say that Fantasy Counterpart Cultures don't count. But I think this the Trope Talk forum's problem at this point.

EDIT: Made a thread.
