I can't help thinking about the people at the convention. If it was all part of the Critic's purgatory, than that means that they weren't real, unless they were vague memories of people the Critic met in the past.
Also, what about Bum calling Donnie DuPre?
Maybe Rebecca and Tacoma are based on people that the Critic knew personally in his past, but are no longer part of his present life. This makes for some interesting WMG.

Every time a fairy says that it doesn't believe in humans, a human child dies.Jesus! This thread is a glass case of emotion right now!
I saw the video first and then came here. Let me offer a different perspective. I also write and direct my own movies. I write a lot more than I direct, mainly because I'm in high school and its hard to find time to direct. In my writing, I can get a great idea, get 6 pages into a script: great lines, good plot, memorable characters. Then, all of a sudden, I stop. I've written myself into a corner. I have no idea how to continue. I'm despondent. This was awesome shit! I have to write down the good points, then file away the script into the 'What Could Have Been' folder.
This may be secondary to Doug having new ideas, but honestly, where you have taken Donny, Tacoma, and Rebecca after Blue Patches? The major arc of the series thus far was resolved. I personally think coming up with a new conflict would have felt tacked on, without the requisite buildup. I loved the show as much as you all did, but it seems like Doug did exactly what I have done MANY times: written himself into a corner.
"Urge to thump... rising." -FighteerI don't know, I just take issue with the fact that there wasn't even a hint that Doug planned to bring back NC. Yes, I know the same happened with To Boldly Flee, but that was to make the finale all the more emotional (even though the audience ended up getting confused). But at least I see where that's coming from. With this... it feels like a rehash of his previous strategy to make the audience more emotional by not giving any info about this ahead of time. If he had said something along the lines of "Hey, do people miss the Nostalgia Critic?" or something along those lines to let people know he's thinking about bringing the show back, I would probably feel differently. But I think it's fair to say that this pretty much came out of nowhere.
I never actually watched Demo Reel so I'm indifferent towards the fate of the show. I just wish that he went about this differently.
♥ ♦ ♠ ♣My girlfriend had an idea that this purgatory is connected with the purgatory in the Scooby Doo review.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenIt's sad that even his fellow reviewers are disappointed in him.
It's fine that Phelous doesn't like the twist but does he have to be so passive aggressively sarcastic about it?

It's Phelous. That's pretty much his whole thing.
Pretty much. It's why we love him.
:D Oh Phallis!! You are A CARD!!!!
x5 Phelous, Sad Panda and Welshy are passive-agressively sarcastic about everything, up to and including the folks they work with. It's their shtick, which is why I'm having such trouble figuring out if Phelous is actually angry or mocking-angry right now.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Maybe it is just bothering me cause this feels genuine.
METAL GEAR!?Are they actually disappointed in him or are they just acting for a video? I'm being seriously, I skipped like four pages because I figured it was the same "Blah blah blah, Doug's a dumbass for dropping Demo Reel" or "Blah blah blah, let's not bash the guy before he possibly releases a followup video talking about his decisions." Or whatever.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Lindsey: Re: The Review Must Go On, know we love and support Doug no matter what. Also *I didn't write my part in it!*Forward all complaints to Doug. Although me getting drunk on "Mommy's Time Out" was my addition; he originally had me chasing Nella wacky Benny Hill style.
We're talking about Twitter reactions.
Also, I personally am in the "Blah blah blah, let's not bash the guy for making creative decisions we dislike" camp.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.About the other TGWTG producers being angry/disappointed about this turn of events, I think it makes sense and it's not entirely unreasonable if they do get a little emotional about the whole thing. In any case they're being civil about it so far.
I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you. There doing it on twitter not in a video.
METAL GEAR!?I'm still fine with this. This is HIS WORK. He can do whatever he wants with it, and I will watch him anyway. I'll .......... just stop making assumptions about his future.
Ah, ok. Thanks.
(V)(;,,;)(V)See in the replies here. Lindsey says she's "Relieved, actually" that Critic is coming back. Curious.
EDIT: "Because it's a business I'm part of; business hasn't been so great since NC ended."

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I may end up having new respect for Lindsey now. It's nice to know at least two of his fellow reviewers is being mature about this.

I think I'm mostly just baffled. I'm not the biggest TGWTG fan in general, but I definitely did feel gypped by the episode. What confused me the most was how much it felt like...well...One More Day. You know, the crappy Spiderman Comic. It almost went through the same process. Everyone telling him he was wrong for doing so. All logic SCREAMING against it. The Critic coming off as some sort of tumor-evil guy in the video.
And yet...it still happened.
If he wanted to go back to doing the critic, fine. But...why like this?
Read my stories!...Oh my god. This is exactly like One More Day. Holy crap.
After his whole big deal about sticking to his guns, they have a right to be annoyed at him.
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again.
