Information from the original pitch book/story bible was leaked on plus4Chan a while ago http://plus4chan.org/boards/a/res/58561.html#59100
It's also revealed in the Avatar artbook.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...I thought male Toph was originally named Sud. Was the name changed before her character was altered, or were they changed at the same time?
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.Instead of spiritbending, why didn't Aang ever consider breaking Ozai's arms and legs? Elaborate and precise movements are needed for bending, and if your limbs are broken in two dozen different places you ain't gonna be able to do that.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoBecause it's a kid's show
hashtagsarestupidPlus, Ozai would probably force the doctors to let him heal properly. He'd probably breathe fire at them if they tried to let his leg/arm/whatever heal wrong.
You might recall that Boomi (or however you spell his name) was able to bend with his face. And Iroh breathed fire a few times without any obvious limb motions. Master benders can seemingly do more with less, so it wouldn't surprise me if Ozai was able to bend decently without his limbs. Ultimately, the bending process is a spiritual one and the forms are just a way of assisting with that rather than the actual mechanical reason behind it.
Couldn't they just hack off his limbs and then put him in a cooler like on boiling rock.
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.Dear god. Sweeney Todd is more kid-friendly than that.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know. But it's the firelord were talking about.
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook. And it's still a Nickelodeon show. Cutting his limbs off might have killed him anyway from blood loss, thought I suppose Aang could cauterize the stumps with fire. But again, it's Nick. I don't think there was anyway they could get a "realistic" solution. If Aang had killed or maimed Ozai, it would have made it such a Bittersweet Ending for him, so I'm glad they at least thought of a solution that's based on established principles, even if it is an Ass Pull. I think spirit bending may work in a similar fashion to activating the Avatar State and opening the chakras.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...I'm going to go on a limb and say that if Aang wasn't willing to kill the firelord, going Misery on him wasn't much of a option to the guy either.
That's not to say someone else wouldn't of tried it but. Some earthbenders were planing to do just that to Iroh to stop him from escaping.
hashtagsarestupidIt would probably be something that Zuko would do
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook. The son crippling the father? Has an almost freudian quatalty
hashtagsarestupidEspecially when the father is played by Mark Hamill...
"Luke, you are my father!"
I know this can be called Necromancing, but some interesting (if from a questionable source) has popped up. I figured I might as well share it with you tropers. It's some insider info on things that went wrong besides M.Night. Read it here. It may prove enlightening to some.
It states, in a nutshell that M. Night influence was buried entirely by those of the producers, and he may in fact have seen the series.
Well, he did say rather frequently in interviews upon the film's announcement that he did see the series, and that he and his daughter were fans of the show.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Wait, so the shitty plot and everything else was the result of Executive Meddling?
Huh! Someone update the page!

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.That source cannot be confirmed in any way.
Stuff like "Oong" and "Uh-vatar" was still all him, though.
I'm really, really glad Iroh wasn't evil. I seriously can't imagine what that would have even been like.
Oh yeah, and Azula was going to be a boy too. Azul.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...
