This is great, especially for those who didn't buy Cross/Generations and don't mind playing the game in Japanese (since the Switch is region-free and all that). It also shows they might be confident in the game, which is usually good news for the West.

If they announce a Western release for the Switch (with a Data Transfer option, of course), that's even more of a reason for me to buy the console. Unless they announce something for the 3DS, in which case I'm inclined to wait a bit more.

Finally, how do you guys think they will handle the transition from a dual-screen to a single-screen game (TV to controller playing)?

Hopefully it'll be localized into, at the very least, English. A game that is in Japanese only is utterly unplayable for me.

By the way, any tips to tackle Stygian Zinogre in 4U G Rank, please? The fact its dragon spheres pop up after nearly every move it makes is way too unnerving, and I can't spend too much time dodging attacks because I have to deal with Brachydios in the same quest as well.

XX on the Switch? Aww yeah. Definitely getting it when/if it comes out here, assuming I have a Switch by then.

Hope this gets localized in the West; looking forward to fighting the Pharaoh mantis that uses a dragon mech to fight you.

Monster Hunter XX for the Nintendo Switch will be released on August 25, 2017 for 5800 yen physical, 5546 yen digital.

You can transfer your 3DS MHX saves to XX Switch via internet. Cross-play between 3DS and Nintendo Switch versions confirmed. HD remastered visuals. Nintendo Switch version will support 1080p on docked.

Monster Hunter XX launches for the Nintendo Switch on August 25; includes a system bundle for 36280 yen (or about 325 USD); 1080p docked; Save data can be transferred between Switch and 3DS versions, and saved data from Generations can be one-time transferred to XX Switch; includes internet only cross-play between 3DS and Switch version.

You can technically get the Switch version outside of Japan thanks to no region locking. You'd have to deal with the language barrier though.

Jeez. The Switch is now a must-buy for me. But should I wait for a localization? I don't think I'll have much trouble playing MH in Japanese, but I'd like to understand the dialogue.

Trasferring data from Cross would make sense. Being able to do that from Generations is really something new, however.

Which quest is that? If you have to kill Brachy, I'd focus on it first.

Now, as for Stygian, I confess that I have problems with it. I usually just run around a bit, then resume attacking.

I like using Lances or other weapons with shields to fight Zinogres. It helps a lot with the lightning orbs (or dragon ones if it's a Stygian) and the "three claw swipes in a row" attack.

So how exactly does save transfer work for the Switch version of XX?

Thanks, I'll try with that weapon. It appears like that fight wasn't conceived with the SA in mind.

The MH Championship announcement said "via the internet", that's all we have for now.

Whether there's a separate app download for that remains to be seen.

Well, upgraded my Grimclaw Tigrex armor enough for the Grimclaw ability to kick in. Will take a break from hunting Grimclaw Tigrexes and go hunting some other Deviant. Trying to level up my Hunter Rank up to 80 so I can hunt Amatsu and Alatreon.

Will probably try tackling Stonefist Hermitaur or Crystalbeard Uragaan.

Monster Hunter: World announced for PS4/XB1 and later PC.

Likely open-world. Definitely a spin-off.

So I want to be a salty Nintendo fan, but the rumors that leaked this said that Switch was getting Monster Hunter 5, so meh. Hope this makes people that wanted console MH happy.

i'm warily excited. mostly because the monsters dont look like monster hunter mosnters.

the fact that you could only tell it was a monster hunter game because of the stuff from previous games is worrying, to say the least.
