And then there was silenceMonster Hunter XX (Double Cross) announced for 3DS. Features 2 new styles, 2 new cover monsters, and some other new stuff. Capcom has no shame. Out March 18.
In unrelated news, I think we can guess the release date for the Switch now.

I
KNEW IT
And then there was silenceI still don't see the logic for simul-release on NX, although Tri-U was in the Wii U launch window.
More likely Nintendo would encourage them to put a better foot forward on Switch, and that could lead to seeing the first-ever mainline Monster Hunter not built towards the ballpark of PS 2 specs.
yooooooooooooooooooo get hype bois
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeWhat I know is that it's coming for 3DS, with data transfer and all.
... And that's called jazz! What do you think the localized title will be? Given their recent naming scheme, I bet it will be called Monster Hunter Ultimate Generations.
edited 27th Oct '16 9:07:36 AM by MJTrooper
They should call it Cross-Gen.
Would be funny if they included some sort of Counter-Style and called it Monter Hunter Ultimate Cross
so i take it that people who don't like this news were
doublecrossed
And then there was silenceThe new monster looks pretty neat. I take it that the Diablos shown in the trailer is a new Deviant?
Wonder if the other three Fated Four will also get alternate forms.
Of course, the most important question is this: what is the new Elder Dragon (I'm assuming there's going to be a new Elder Dragon, based on the previous Updated Rereleases in this franchise) going to be?
YYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHH

... And that's called jazz!I made an And the Fandom Rejoiced page for Monster Hunter. If anyone has anything they'd like to add, feel free to do so.

In amusing news, Monster Hunter 4, 4U, and Generations have all sold 4.1 million units. Now that's what I call a consistent franchise.
Has to be, like, the thing keeping Capcom afloat along with Resident Evil re-releases at this point, given Street Fighter V's somewhat disappointing performance and the long gap between mainline Resident Evil games.
You know those infamous quests where you had to fight monsters without armor? Well Generations has an easy loophole. You can choose to play those quests as a Prowler. A Prowler can still use skills, their defense is higher since it's also affected by their level, and most of all, there's a skill called "World's Strongest" that greatly increases their attack and defense if they have no armor equipped. It just so happens that the first no armor quest in Generations was also released with the Palico that has World's Strongest.
The guy who made the Resident Evil films is working on making a Monster Hunter film.
I've seen the news, saw the concept and got utterly terrified. It's wrong to wish for a film to flop, but I feel like I do. Even though it apparently won't be necessary, given the people involved.
... And that's called jazz!Full Disclaimer: I don't know the first thing about Monster Hunter other than it's got monsters and hunters of monsters.
However. I know about how people hate how the RE movies were not even trying to be related to the games, and that's the fault of a self-absorbed pompous little man named Paul W.S. Anderson.
So I propose we trend this on Twitter tenfold:
#NoToPaulWSAndersonOnMonsterHunter
Copy, paste, tweet, repeat.
Paul's had enough fun with a Capcom franchise.

It's not really a film that would make a good movie, unless you wanted to watch a 5-hour movie about killing Qurupeco over and over again until you got a Wyvern Stone drop.
Monster Hunter movie? Yay!
Paul Anderson? Eh, I liked the first Resident Evil and the second wasn't awful...
There are no real central characters so it’s a bit like when we first approached Resident Evil and imposed our own characters and story on that world,
I think this is a perfect IP for us to do exactly that same thing again. I am concerned.
The Monster Hunter world includes these huge deserts that make the Gobi Desert look like a sandbox
The final act comes back to our world and it’s basically this epic battle in and around LAX.
Um, what? Really?
"I love this world and setting so much that I'm going to throw it away and bring it to modern day earth."
Monster Hunter has always been a low-tech setting with just enough tech to raise questions and bordering on magic.
I'll probably still go to see it. Maybe it'll surprise me and be awesome, but at this point I'm expecting disappointment.
the movie better be some guy trying to rearrange his gems into a new set for half an hour, going on a pubbie, thehunting Pink Rathian, having some asshole with a glaive go "JE SUIS MONTE" and then fuck up the mounting anyway, and then the guy in high rank armor over there gets oneshot by a fireball and everyone fails, and the guy has the fucking gonads to send his guild card to everyone
And then there was silence
JP only Monster Hunter Nintendo Direct coming October 27. No Switch or mobile announcements. Presumably this will cover updates to Stories, but of course a brand new Monster Hunter is expected.
