Really? Because I don't think the Raging Brachydios is really a subspecies; it's more of a variant, like the Furious Rajang and the Savage Deviljho (both of which are present in X, according to the wiki).

Savage and furious kinda get special privileges since they were originally a type of rare species. In furious/golden's debut (MHFU) it had no special name and was only hinted at being different from its quest description. The same can be said of savage as far as I recall. Hence why they were allowed into cross (aside from popularity).
What is surprising however is that silver and gold rath were reclassified to rare species (which they are not) so that they could be included, which I found to be both strange and unnecessary.
Raging brachy is currently classified as a subspecies (variants did not exist in 4U and he did not receive rare species treatment) and therefore was barred entry to cross. Although I'm sure that, with a few move upgrades, you could totally call raging a variant (since he seems a lot more like a variant than a subspecies anyways).
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Welp, let's make a day of it!I'm pretty sure that Raging Brachydios is considered a variant, due to the game not ever explicitly calling it by "Raging Brachydios" despite giving it its own unique icon.
Also, it's listed as a variant on the wiki.
Huh. I totally stand corrected. Guess there was a reason he seemed like a variant to me.
Perhaps he didn't end up in cross due to his similarity to the incinerating dinovaldo?
As a side note I guess we've stopped using the term "rare species" since cross came out. Rare species were a tad different than variants, but they all ended up on that variant list anyways. Strange, but oh well.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Welp, let's make a day of it!Upon further investigation, it seems that the rare species classification has been changed entirely to include what used to be subspecies, and the variant classification now covers the old rare species. At least that's what Kogath's wiki says.
Examples: silver rath: subspecies -> rare species Savage Dev: rare species -> variant
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Welp, let's make a day of it!Not including Raging Brachydios due to the Incinerating Blade Dinovaldo already being in makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if someone thought that two exploding Brute Wyverns in the same game was a bit much.
My only question is as such: Will the Gear REX from Metal Gear make an actual appearance in the series?
I mean there is evidence suggesting that metal gear and monster hunter take place in the same universe, soo...
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Welp, let's make a day of it!It'd be awesome as hell if Gear REX was added. Though I feel that they might rename it if they do.
Another idea as to why Raging Brachydios isn't in X: Imagine a hunt that has both Raging Brachydios and Incinerating Blade Dinovaldo in it.
From what I've seen, Unstable hunting grounds are a thing in Cross, the special named monsters aren't given the Elder Dragon treatment of no other large monsters appearing in their zones, and I've had subspecies/rare species/variants wander in while I'm hunting another one, for example during a Raging Brachydios hunt a Savage Deviljho wandered in.

So by now, I'm going to assume that if we ever get X, it'll be an Ultimate version. Of course, since there's been no word of an Ultimate version, it's hard to say.
Isn't the lack of word of an Ultimate version because X isn't even out in Japan yet?

Wait, how can a Savage Deviljho wander into a Raging Brachydios hunt? Raging Brachydios, if I recall correctly, can only be fought at Ingle Isle, where Deviljhos do not appear. Or is this only in a special quest?
Dude, X has been out for a few months now.
Ignore my comment then, I only really keep up with when the games are being released outside of Japan.
I forget if it was a special quest (I don't believe so) but me and one of my friends were in Skype playing 4U and we heard the noise letting us know another monster wandered in. I looked down at my 3DS's screen (I was the only gunner) and saw the Savage Deviljho's icon.
Though I might be remembering wrong, and combining something else.
Also I just checked Ingle Isle's page on the Wiki:
Incinerating Blade Dinovaldo is indeed found there in X, so my thought of one potentially wandering in on the hunt of the other seems even more likely as to why Raging Brachydios isn't in X.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's impossible for the Ingle Isle to be an unstable environment in 4 Ultimate. There should be no way for a Savage Deviljho to hijack a Raging Brachydios hunt.
Yeah, I just asked one of my friends who was with me on that hunt.
I combined the Raging Brachydios hunt with a different hunt entirely in my memory. My bad
daimyo hermitaur down. i think i'll leave the double tigrex advanced quest till later.
what happened to the magaru shagala quest? it disappeared. i was sure they were offering to let me do it again after i finishe it the first time
It's an Advanced Quest
the only difference between normal and advanced quests are that advanced quests only appear at random after you complete them
And then there was silenceYeah, that quest cycle thing was always kinda annoying. Good thing it was removed in crosss, so no more abandoning gathering quests to get the one you want.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Welp, let's make a day of it!So I just got to 7* Village in 3U, which means I unlocked the double HR Volvidon quest.
I now remember vividly why I think they're the most adorable monster in the game.
its a toss up for me, between them and lagombi.
but they're definitely got the best palico headgear in mh4u

i love the kecha so much
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeCome to think of it, I still haven't finished 4U's postgame story despite the ridiculous amount of hours I've sunk into the game.
I've been playing on-and-off since the summer, and right now it's an off period. I'll get back to it eventually, probably after I finish Xenoblade X.
Well, X doesn't have subspecies as a rule, so that might be why.
