The only situation I can think of is if the ruler was poisoned by her treacherous Chief Caster.
Ahh, Sizemore, always getting caught in morals.
He's Too Good for This Sinful Earth, but it's worth noting that all his moral navel-gazing accomplishes is to force him into inaction while shit happens around and to him. Sizemore resents Parson because he forced him to confront this and use his power to kill when it might lead to a greater good.
More importantly, it seems that Janis wants to decrypt Marie regardless of the outcome of Wanda's trial, which means... what? Will someone else attune to the Arkenpliers?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"No, it seems like they're planning to interrupt the execution if that's the verdict.
But how will they get the Pliers? Aren't they with GK?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I think the plan is to throw up a no combat field, walk Wanda back through the portal and then never, ever come back.
Oh, right. Which would be pretty amazing, if we didn't already know about that plan, meaning that something will inevitably go wrong with it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Use Flower Power to Quiet the MK > Grab Wanda > Everyone through the GK portal > Wanda reclaims the Pliers and decrypts Marie > Janis turns to GK because that's now her only possible source of upkeep.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Well, not the GK portal. That should be closed since the current capital site is in Spacerock.
I suppose from Janis' perspective the entire trial is close to being a sham.
They wouldn't let Wanda speak in her own defense. Let other Croakamancers take the Archon's corpses. Are basically looking for reasons to overlook Charlie's hacking either the portal or archon's, and his role in croaking units in the attack. Have only been held in check thanks to stalling tactics that will fail.
So she's basically going "if the trial's a sham, and I acted in good conscience throughout it, I shouldn't feel guilty about acting against it for my own / Marie's interests."

I'd like to pull a richard stallman for a moment here. What you are referring to as the carny stuff that charlie put on his portal has in fact been talked about in a previous text update. The magic kingdom casters are aware of charlie's carnied portal and are holding it aside as a separate case for another trial after the current one against GK ends.
I like to pick up heavy things and put them down.Time for the talk. And niice move, Parson.
Tricky one, though. He has no evidence for it, and if Don King gets an attack of religious fervor, it might backfire.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Not claiming to be a Titan is obvious, but calling Charlie one is surprising. I'm not sure where he's going with that.
He'll probably go further into calling him some "fallen titan", all satan-like.
Hell, it might even be true. There's no direct evidence of it, but there's lots of bizarre stuff surrounding Charlie that could mean he's a fallen Titan.
What is a Titan, from Parson's perspective? What would it mean for Charlie to be one?
I think there’s a global conspiracy to see who can get the most clicks on the worst liesHe probably had time to read up on religion of Erfworld. Especially in terms of needing to know what all the other guys believe in and think like.

My personal theory, arrived at after many hours of analysis and introspection, is that Parson's talking out of his ass.
He's got a big one just for that purpose.
That's a possibility. But another, intriguing one, is that the Titans do exist, as features of Erfworld. They may not be Gods, exactly, but they may be a thing. I'll bet that Parson has been thinking about it.
I think there’s a global conspiracy to see who can get the most clicks on the worst liesThat's why it's sparked such fervent speculation, you see.
Called it!
So did everybody stop caring about this comic at all?
And it has such a nice surprise right at the end.
