Agreed. Assuming her head didn't explode while watching it.
"You can reply to this Message!"Just saw the episode.
I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, so I'll just golf-clap.
Umbran Climax◊I'm 99% sure that Manta's goons are human like Manta himself (hence why they need the helmets to see and breath underwater).
Manta wouldn't employ non-humans. Especially underwater breathing non-humans. He would stab them. To death. In the face.
You know for a guy who doesn't want to be the Batman, his actions sure remind me of him. Anyway I really hope we get to see Dick in a Bat-suit.
One the one hand, Batman doesn't exactly make public displays to let people know he's there.
On the other hand, if they're trying to keep up the appearance that they're not short-handed, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for him to do just that in order to give villains the idea that Batman's still around.
x4, I was moreso quoting Zombiepeas than going along with it. Don't shoot the messenger.
Besides, they had all departed by the time Nightwing was doing CPR anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadNightwing doesn't want to be an brooding mess. Being a strategist & tactician though is something else.
But yeah, part of thing is Nightwing IS superior to Batman. Even Bruce himself in comics has acknowledged that he believes he raised and trained Dick to become everything he is, develop into his own style, and he surpasses him in areas such as keeping contacts with people because of his charisma & leadership abilities.
Besides, always loved that moment just cause Dick is feeling down on himself and that he can't live up to Bruce then Bruce explains how he already surpasses him.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Batman lives to make sure his "sons" learn all that is good about him while inheriting none of his flaws. It's something he's been known to say about Tim as well.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Does anyone else notice that, so far, there's no sign of Black Manta being a bad father? If he weren't a super-villain then a lot of his moments with Kaldur would be downright touching. He even got an Aesop at the end of "Depths".
Well, aside from the whole "mentoring him in the art of being a terrorist and killer." thing.

"You can reply to this Message!"I have to agree. He's clearly not a good person and needs to be stopped, plus he's mentoring him to be a terrorist as said, but he does seem Affably Evil right now.
Of course, we need to see how he acts in pressure situations himself. In first season, if I do remember right, he did try to kill Aqualad when he was his foe without any remorse shown.
TBH, now that I'm thinking about it, that makes him all the more sinister IMO.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Yeah, Black Manta's pretty bad no matter how you slice it. He knew Aqualad was his son (when Aqualad himself was still unaware of their relation) and showed no hesitation in trying to kill him.
Come to think of it, that'd be an interesting dinner conservation.
"So, Dad, about that time you tried to kill me..."
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadYou know I forgot until just now, MM has gotten over her inability to genderbend since she impersonated the male Martian Manhunter.
And Mantadad does seem to be aiming for affably evil. I'm reminded of how Xanatos was as a dad.

She was never unable to genderbend, it was just hard for her. Either she's practiced more and can now do it comfortably, felt that maintaining the illusion of the full league's presence was important enough to go the extra mile, or most likely both.
Well, minus fact Xanatos genuinely loved his family and that was part of what made him redeemable person. He clearly wouldn't actually cross lines of hurting them and it was accepting his more human side that can show affection and love that helps his character development into a better person.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Pretty much. I was mostly using Xanatos because he was very much an affably evil villain who did get some touching fatherly moments later on. It seems Weisman will use that when fitting.
So... uhm... did I miss something, or... how the hell did Nightwing and Artemis manage to fake her having no heartbeat that Superboy could hear? And for that matter, why wouldn't Miss Mindrape Martian detect her brainwaves?
Good episode overall, though. Enjoyed it quite thoroughly, although there is some small, nasty part of me that was rather hoping Artemis actually was dead so that Arrowette could show up >.> Wonder if she'll be adopting the Tigress moniker, now that she's (apparently) going darkside?
... and speaking of Darkseid, I wonder how telling it is that I'm having a hard time deciding whether him being the Light's silent partner would be worse than the Reach being the partner?
I assume it had something to do with the pill.
I really doubt the Reach would be the partner. That said, they'd be... well... it depends. Which is worse? The elimination of free will (Darkseid) or death (Reach)?

Heh. Given that the Reach were working towards the elimination of free will thing as well (with their funky Reachtech virus-thing that would gradually make humans pliable), and Darkseid deals out plenty of death too... hard to say, still
@Chameleon: I think that the pill knocked her out in such a way that it looked like death.

Well, considering that the Reach's modus opperendi is:
1) plant hero
2) turn hero against world
3) Kill any opposition
4) Harvest all usable resources AND/OR establish as part of the Reach

Judging by the way he stated that they had "history", I think it's safe to say that Chalant was briefly canon in the past. What puzzles me is why Artemis was surprised about the necklace. According to Ask Greg, they were good friends. At least, they were supposedly in season 1.
Artemis was surprised that Dick was able to request such a charm without Zee questioning him for its use.
I'm currently waiting more for the read recap for the last episode, but yeah, it's going to be fun reading Zompeas' recap for this one, too.
