i wonder if this is a sequel the same way smt4apoc is, or if its a sequel in the way smt2 or king abaddon are, or if its a sequel in the same way devil survivor 2 is.

so its a remake not a sequel.
So how many is this now? Persona 3 FES had Metis, Portable had the Heroine, Persona 4 Golden had Marie, Record Breaker had Miyako, Radiant Historia has Nemesia, now this has "Alex". Atlus really, really likes their Remake Girls.
That said, with the credits in the trailer I think it's safe to assume that Doi's fully taken the reins from Kaneko for demon design. Maybe I'll actually be able to beat Mem Aleph without password cheese in this version.

Well I guess I won't bother playing Strange Journey now. I suppose I'll just play one of the spinoffs after I finish Nocturne and Apocalypse.

Same here. Part of me was always on the fence about whether or not to play Strange Journey since I never actually played it when it came out, but now I guess I don't need to worry about that.

Maaya is perfect to voice someone who sings YHVH's Greatest Hits to brainwash everyone.

I think that was Yūichi Nakamura as Arthur at the end there. I saw Cho in that list too; Stephen cameo perhaps?
I cannot for the life of me picture Takahiro Sakurai voicing Jimenez, though.

I'm pretty curious about what all is being changed- Some of the statements almost make me think the dungeon crawling will be more like the IV games than Wizardry.

One thing I'm kinda nervous about is that there's a new alignment rep and a new ending. SJ has my favorite story and endings so I really hope they don't pull a Marie and really expect you to follow the new character's path.
It'll still be an amazing game, of course.

The last two Remake Girls ended up being an obscure Japanese deity and an Evangelion Angel so I wouldn't bet against it.
