A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Subaru looked again at the wall,

“Not bad, but I got to admit I have seen better power to weight ratios for damage.”

Then she noticed Blink’s face and bent down to get a better look.

“Blink? Are you alright? You suddenly went red, feeling alright?” Subaru said with a hint of concern.

"I DIDN'T SEE ANY...oh wait..." Rey winced, rubbing his ears a little, seeming to listen a moment. "Okay, it's definitely letting up. It still sounds like I'm underwater though." He glanced over to Blink. "Well, at any rate, I still think it's a little too powerful...oh, did you draw a new picture?"

Mason tried out two copies of the Railgun.
He broke both arms.

"N-nothing, Miss Subaru!" Blink replied hastily, tucking the items back into her coat. Then she paused for a moment. "Miss Subaru... What would you like for a present?"

Subaru blinked,

“A present? Eeh, I don’t think so. I’ve alright and I have everything I need.” She ruffled Blink’s hair, messing it up,

“Save those gifts for a special time alright?” Then she finally noticed that Blink was hiding something,

“What are you hiding Blink?”

"W-well.... it w-was something I thought you might like, but I didn't want to give it to you early or anything..."

Blink slowly brought out the cylinder. "It's an ice cream machine! Since you liked that weird popcorn stuff and snacks and stuff, I figured giving you something to make your own ice cream might be cool! But I wasn't sure yet..."

She had something else stuffed in her coat rather hastily as well.

Rey smiled some, wandering off to let them talk, stumbling vaguely once or twice, stopping to rub his ears, finally ending up near Gordon, glancing at him with a vaguely amused smile. "Do your ears eventually get used to explosions right next to them?"

Mason was lying on the ground in the firing range, both arms broken, hearing intact.
"MEDIC!"

Narumi rolled his eyes as he went over to Mason. "What seems to be the problem?" Narumi asked.

"Can you fix broken arms?"

Narumi chuckled. "No. But I might imagine up a hospital for you. Complete with staff to take care of you. I think I have the technique down. Just hope I don't screw up." Narumi said, focusing on a patch on the ground. His eyes glaring onto the ground. "Make it a hospital" Narumi thought in his head.

The HDTV screen hummed on life after the virtual simulation had started, showing Spriggan standing in a deserted street somewhere in the Hong Kong SAR. Aside from is ROK Digital Woodland and his Swiss MP beret with his balaclava, he had a different tac vest strapped on his chest.

The HD-TV distracted Narumi's state of mind, thus creating only a hospital bed in the middle of the Common Room. "Huh? Is this where you came from, Spriggan-san?" Narumi asked.

Mason summoned "An instantaeneous healing for my arms."
He got one.

Kimimaro walked up to Dr. Freeman. "I've heard mention of something called a 'resonance cascade' a few times here and there. What exactly is a resonance cascade?"

He briefly noticed the conversation between Subaru and Blink; having read Subaru's abridged file and thus learned of the girl's deep love of ice cream, he could only imagine how this would turn out.

Narumi would see that Spriggan was running towards an abandoned Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 518CDI of the Hong Kong Police Force◊ while there were some vehicles abandoned as well on the street.

"Where are they?"

He leaned his back on the van, peeking out to see some vehicles left in front of a bank.

"They can't be right."

A Mercedes-Benz 324 Van in Hong Kong Customs markings were found parked on the side with a Ford Transit Van in Hong Kong Auxiliary Police markings. Based on their appearance, they looked like they were recently purchased.

"I mean, they got proper marking with Hong Kong customs and with the Auxiliary Force..."

He crouched behind the 518CDI still, shouldering the MSMC submachine gun after putting out its buttstock. Spriggan took aim with the mounted red dot sight.

"A familiar street. Looks like I'm in Pedder Street, especially since the vehicles are parked outside the local Citibank."

Narumi and the others would see that Spriggan was in a virtual simulation inside the Urban Warfare Arena.

To Rey, Gordon replied "You get used to it eventually, though your ears are gonna ring for a while not matter what."

To Kimimaro, he said "A Resonance Cascade... a Resonance cascade is, simply put, a catostrophic portal storm triggered by anomalous conditions, and materials with anomalous properties. The only one I've ever seen tore a hole in my dimension and allowed creatures from a dimension, a sort of border world, called Xen."

"Hm... This could be interesting..." Narumi said, spawning a chair to sit on and some popcorn to munch on as he watched the TV some more.

"Extradimensional invaders? Did you... manage to push them back? And was there any connection between them and the Combine?"

"I killed their leader," replied Gordon. "He was a huge... fetus monster with a head that opened up like a flower. That pushed 'em back, and freed the Vorts from his control. But the Combine caught sight of my dimension because of the resonance cascade."

"So those... Vortigaunts we met earlier were slave-soldiers being forced to fight until you freed them. That is... a bit too familiar to things I saw in my previous life; not all of my old master's warriors were volunteers, if you catch my drift. If they recognized you once we freed them from those tubes, it's no wonder they helped us out."

The earpiece came to life as Spriggan heard the dispatch.

<"Look out for the bank robbers in Pedder Street, Central. They are dressed as police officers. I repeat, they are dressed as police offcers!">

"Shit..." Spriggan muttered, his Cantonese only enough to figure out what's happening or what someone is saying in either Hong Kong, Macau or in Guangdong.

He observed the emergency vehicles outside and noticed one thing wrong. Two more vehicles were parked, consisting of a Mazda 3 Macau Customs Service vehicle with a Hyundai Santa Fe in blue Public Security Police Force markings.

"Is the simulation playing tricks on me or did I input something wrong?" Spriggan muttered, keeping his aim on the vehicles while flipping the fire selector to automatic.

A few minutes later, a group of men wearing balaclavas or steel hockey masks walked out of the bank with Hong Kong/Macau police/customs uniforms. They were armed with non-regulation weapons, seeing as they had G36s and M4 carbines.

"Yeah," Gordon replied. "From what I understand, they all know who I am."

"Parado! Não se mexa!"

Spriggan shouted at the armed men, aiming his submachine gun at them. He then repeated the same warning in English.

Minutes later, the armed men responded by firing their weapons at him. He was lucky to hide behind 518CDI, using it to take the bullets for him.

As the armed men continued to fire, one of the felt something brush on their leg. Looking down, he would see a blue house cat wearing an odd red jumpsuit with a red ring on its tail.
