A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Kirby's body was not dealing with the temperature change well. Bwank! thought Kirby, his body glowing once more before it returned to his normal form.

Dat one is cwazy... he thought to himself, realizing how viciously he had acted under the power's influence.

-Saren seems undeterred by the cold, though he does surface once before diving back down-

Who the hell is Solo? Gordon wondered.

Hahli seemed to be fine in the cold water; if she wasn't, she wasn't showing it.

"What are we waiting for, a herd of dermis turtles?" she yelled to the rest of the group, far ahead of them. "Come on, let's go, go, go."

The dolphin swam up to Saren and loosed a powerful pulse of sound directly into the turian's face, squawking indignantly.

MY NAME IS ECCO, LOBSTER THING. AND NO, I DID NOT KNOW; I HAVE ONLY HEARD OF THIS PLACE, I HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE TO SEE IT FOR MYSELF.

Before Ecco could continue hir tirade, however, a large plume of water erupted into the air far in the distance, and a low, faint clicking resonated throughout the sea.

I HEAR THE SONG OF SINGERS...COME TO ME, LITTLE ONES, AND TELL ME WHY YOU WOULD BREAK MY SOLITUDE.

"Is that...?" Craft had his suspicions, but he wanted to be sure.

"We're here to help," said Hahli, with uncharacteristic impatience. She kicked the water and flexed her fins quickly.

-From Saren comes a wave of sound comparable to a trumpet hail, going out in all directions-

What the fuck? Gordon thought. That definantly wasn't normal.

A low clicking, like an amused chuckle, fills the water in response to Hahli's words.

PATIENCE, LITTLE ONE; I WAS YOUNG ONCE TOO, AND I KNOW HOW IT FELT TO THINK THAT EVERYTHING HAD TO BE DONE RIGHT THIS INSTANT. COME CLOSER, THROUGH THE ICEBERGS, AND LET ME HAVE A LOOK AT YOU ALL.

Then the voice of the Big Blue turned serious.

AS FOR YOU...

A loud and deafening sound, like the blaring of an immense trombone, erupted from the Big Blue's general direction, and a wave of something sent Saren flying out of the water and into the sky.

A sigh came from the distance.

HONESTLY, CALVES THESE DAYS AND THEIR SO-CALLED MUSIC...

Craft slowly edged his way toward the Big Blue, careful to avoid the icebergs and occasionally surfaced.

Hahli swam towards the whale, occasionally using her Cordak to destroy any nearby icebergs that may threaten her.

-The Turian descends, then hovers above the water's surface, looking ill-

Ravage and Ecco swam towards the Big Blue, taking care to avoid any icebergs which threatened them. A large, cetacean shape appeared in the distance, half-obscured by a large iceberg.

PLEASE, Ecco sang, I—WE NEED YOUR HELP.

OH? AND WHAT WOULD YOU ASK OF THE BIG BLUE, LITTLE ONE?

Ravage winced at the increased volume of the whale's voice; obviously it had only seemed a normal volume due to the distances involved.

Gordon triggered what he had assumed were thrusters of some sort in his suit, and he navigated the various icebergs, so he could get a view of the creature.

If Big Blue was what Gordon thought he was, they'd be treated to a fairly amazing sight.

-Saren watches, his omni-tool active and scanning the surrounding area-

Roach followed the others through the ocean.

The water's getting colder. This is getting more and more like the oil-rig mission with every moment.

Occasionally, he had to swim out of the path of an iceberg, and surface to catch his breath, as the group approached the whale.

Finally the dolphin cleared the last iceberg and stopped short as he came upon the full majesty of the Big Blue. Calling this mighty leviathan "Big" did not do justice to the concept; resting in a small bay formed between several glaciers, the azure colossus dwarfed the great white and the octopus combined, and even though he knew with reasonable certainty that he had outlived this mammoth mammal by several orders of magnitude, Ravage found himself cowed by the deep wisdom radiating from the blue whale's eyes. In five hundred years, this lone cetacean had gleaned more of life, the universe and everything than all of Ravage's countless eons of warfare and battle.

The Big Blue took one look at Jorge, Gordon, Travis, Cirno, Roach and Eddie, and blinked.

MEN...BUT SUCH MEN AS I HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE. THIS IS A SURPRISE...

Ecco squawked in confusion.

YOU KNOW THESE STRANGERS, BIG BLUE?

I DO INDEED, YOUNG SINGER, THOUGH THEIR PRESENCE IS UNEXPECTED. THERE HAVE NOT BEEN MEN IN THIS WORLD FOR A LONG TIME...A LONG TIME.

—#I would suggest mounting an iceberg, Ravage.#—

A Blue Whale. Gordon's asumption had been correct. The massive mammal loomed ahead, like a majestic, organic mountain.

With a pang of sorrow, Gordon remembered that creatures such as this were extinct back in on the alien-infested earth.

Hahli simply stared at the creature, which resembled a razor whale; significantly upsized and devoid of armor.

"Amazing..." she murmured, running an exploratory hand across the flank of the great cecetean.

As the group left the shark-infested waters, Travis left several of the sharks sliced in half or bleeding profusely. He shivered and used his Blood Berry to heat up the water as they entered the colder seas.

Shit, this water's is cold!

And then they saw the huge Blue Whale. He put a hand to his head due to the huge volume of the whale's 'song'.

Hey! Could you tone it down a bit?

" You as well, Mr. Touchdown. Get on an iceberg."

Jorge had trouble understanding something.

...How the HELL did we get to the arctic so quickly?

Then they saw the colossus known as Big Blue. Jorge could only gawk at such an ancient, majestic creature. It was unlike anything he'd ever seen before.

Incredible...wait. Did you say men? Are you telling me this is Earth?

Craft stared at the creature.

"Impressive..." he muttered.
