You know, Jotaro, at least in last episode, seems to have some sort of PTSD. Or at least, bad memories with DIO:
I mean, look at it, an evil blond son of a bitch, talking about "seconds remaining", using the word "muda", and thinking is hot shit, while also killing Jotaro´s friend. (not necessarily like Kakyoin, but maybe Joseph, since he saw DIO killed his grandpa)
For me, Star Platinum hit doubly hard that day: Jotaro was triggered.
Also, DIO and Kira are both inspired by David Bowie, so, yeah, Trivia!!

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. You know, I'm not a guy who usally invents headcanons, but to me it seems like Jotaro, especially during part 3, has some problems at socializing with people, almost like he has some minor form of Asperger's: he feels like he's in his environment only when he's alone or when he's punching bad guys, but with family or friends he only seems to talk about how to deal with the current problem they're facing, even in times of relative peace.
Of course, this is just how I see his character, and since I don't have any of this kind of problems, I don't know if it could be related to that psychology.

There may be something to it, though, in light of his strained relationship with Jolyne.
Y'know I was about to point out that their relationship is strained because Jotaro spent all his time either Marine Biology-ing or fighting evil Stand users, but then I realized those things involve being alone or punching things.
My various fanfics. It was stated somewhere that Jotaro expects people to understand how he feels without him having to say it or overtly demonstrate it. He seems to be bad at expressing his feelings, yes.
i realized something a while ago about how Jotaro cares about people closest to him.
whenever he senses trouble that he can't control coming his way, he tends to separate himself from as many of his friends as possible. in Part 3, when he first gets his Stand and can't control it, he volunteers to stay in jail until he can. in Part 4, he spends most of the part in a hotel far away from his recently discovered family, and acts cold to Koichi right before entering the clothing store and encountering Kira, and was on constant solo investigations in Part 6.
Jotaro likes to keep any potential threats localized to himself, even if it means cutting off people that could back him up.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Speaking of headcanons, remember that guy that saved Josuke's life and inspired Josuke's hairstyle? My theory is that guy was actually Josuke himself. Kira's BITE ZE DUSTO didn't kill Josuke, it somehow took Josuke with Kira as he was going back in time and after a quick but intense trading of blows, Kira sent Josuke so far back in time that he managed to arrive in the middle of a powerful snowstorm where he could see a car stuck in the snow...
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.i honestly thought that was how it was gonna go down.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Some people have speculated Araki was planning to do something like that since it seemed like such an obvious set-up but Araki was Writing by the Seat of Your Pants and so the plot point never got any follow-up.
Josuke's hair prevents time from collapsing on itself, man!
If Josuke was there to fight Pucci, Pucci would've got his ass handed to himself on a golden fucking platter. Josuke's hair would have had none of Made In Heaven's bullshit.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Speaking of which, neat article about Araki's writing style.
Again, Jotaro was raised in a house with one parent who isn't always there, and the other who was trained in the art of "your next words will be ___". Imagine growing up and having your mother say "Your first words will be ___". You're probably going to start thinking you don't have to say much.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyHolly isn't anything like Joseph though, and she probably never said that to him.
Anyways, that was a cool article.
I think the thing that strikes me the most about Araki is his desire to learn and grow. I have nothing against mangaka who stick to what they're good at or seemingly don't get much better, mostly because the manga industry is so tough, draining and ruthless that sometimes you just have to get by and do what you can.
But Araki has always been about pushing the envelope and trying to evolve and take wild risks. He eventually got so ambitious that shounen jump couldn't really contain it anymore and he moved to an environment better suited for his sensibilities. I can think of few other shounen mangaka who have done the same.
Maybe go the other way, Jotaro grew up on stories of his grandpa and tried doing the "your next line will be ___" and kept getting it wrong, embarrassing himself and prompting him to keep quiet.
I could see that.
Also how come his one liners were cooler when he was 17?
Maybe because he fought more often, so he had more occasions to perfect his one-liner skills?
…DIU's second opening sounds like a Naruto opening. I don't know why but it just feels that way to me...
Rohan's voice is too perfect to be true.
The issue is that Jotaro thinks he is easy to read. His mother can read him like a book, and it resulted in him thinking he is easy to read.
I also wonder what made him start being a hardass, he actually did used to be a sweet kid. As evidenced by the photographic evidence of him standing tall and smiling proud with his mother.
Maybe it's a rebellious phase.
A veeeery long phase if you ask me. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I think I wouldn't be capable of seeing Jotaro as a nice kid without bursting to laugh.
Hell, we even saw Jotaro de-aged to childhood.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyToo bad it didn't last long enough to erase his memories, though.

@Echo: judging by the photos we see in Part 3, it looked to be a recent change. my guess is that his change in personality came when he developed his Stand. at first, he thought it was a malevolent spirit that had possessed him, so he started separating himself from his family to keep them safe.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. When did Jotaro ever have cool one liners? He was always saying ridiculously silly things.
My favorite was when he couldn't think of a one-liner against Dark Blue Moon and just went "Avdol, say something."
…Boy, I know Tonio
Trussardi"Trendy" is Italian, but that fake accent was proBAbly dispenSAble. >.> I guess actual Italian-Japanese actors aren't very common, but still…The atmosphere in the episode though. They nailed the non-existent danger ridiculously well. That's where an anime shines more easily than a black-and-white manga.
