Last time I remember the show getting any real promotion was last year when Stakes was airing. I found that mini series to be kind of boring TBH though.
Really? Most people loved Stakes.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?It feels like they're trying to downplay fan backlash while at the same time they're trying to suffocate the series by burying it beneath the other shows. They can renew it all they want but if no one watches it then it doesn't make a difference.
EDIT: Yeah I wasn't a fan of Stakes either. The Status Quo is God part of it was super annoying (and singing a song about it just made it worse).

This song needs more love. It's weird because when there's new episodes, they market them a lot. They had the whole Regular Time Adventure Show blocks that they marketed fairly well.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? They still get decently high ratings for new episodes though.
Maybe they're just not marketing it as much since it's so deep into the plot now and the average viewer wouldn't be willing to deal with the Archive Panic needed to understand what was going on?
I liked Stakes, personally. Sure the Status Quo Is God ending was a bit of a cop-out, but AT does cop-outs well. It was like the thing they did with Jake's kids aging rapidly so they could keep the dynamic, but instead of just ignoring it they deconstructed it and showed Jake's resulting empty nest syndrome. Stakes was a bit of a cop-out, but they acknowledged it and showed Marceline's character development as a result.
The whole thing about returning to the status quo was the entire point. Everything Stays.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Doesn't mean I had to like it.
Status Quo Is God is one of my major pet peeve tropes and this show has a massive problem with it and as a result, I don't like it as much as I used to.

This song needs more love. The thing with AT is that it gradually does change, but in more subtle ways. Finn is still Finn, but he's not the same as he was in the beginning. Marceline is still Marceline, but you can tell she's changed some. There's more obvious changes like with Ice King, Flame Princess, and Magic Man, but with most of the main characters, it's pretty much what the lyrics to Everything Stays is talking about.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Finn's subtle character development from season to season is just about my favorite thing about this show.
I mean, he's matured enough to apologize to Flame Princess and reestablish a friendship with her. Sure, he still deals with issues of self worth, but that's something that'd be hard for anyone, no matter how mature, to shake off.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I do like that the characters grow but what this show seems to fail to realize is that it can have the characters grow and not throw out potential plot devices left and right. Jake dealing with being a father would have been a much more interesting set of plots than what we got (though I don't hate what did end up happening), Princess Bubblegum turning back into an adult right away just turned that entire plot point into a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment, and despite a crap ton of foreshadowing, Finn's arm ended up being an arbitrary set up for an even lamer plot. Stakes basically celebrating this fact was way too annoying for me to appreciate the message. Basically, this series sucks at creating interesting plotlines that last a while.
I won't pretend it's not stubborn, but it bothers me.

This song needs more love.I'm more glad they undid the Bubblegum plot point quickly, to be honest. It felt super creepy.
As for Finn's arm, I'm giving you that one, I didn't like how it was resolved (except for the grass arm, because fuck yes grass arm).
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Ice King going "welp, i'm out of here" when Bubblegum turned 13 made that whole subplot worth it.
I always thought the Bubblegum-being-13 thing was a plan for a series finale that they didn't think through, and then had to backpedal as soon as they found out the show wasn't going to be canceled. Remember that most Cartoon Network shows at the time where lucky to get 2 seasons.
You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer. That's not the reason given.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.It just feels super weird and kind of unsettling to make the 13 year old PB into a longer running plotline. Plus, them dropping it arguably led to an even better plotline with FP.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? No, but its always been my theory. That whole two-parter with The Lich could have served as a fairly satisfying conclusion if the show hadn't continued.
No one could have expected the show to be such a huge success, so it would make sense to plan the season finale so it could function as the series finale if necessary (Justice League did the same thing every season).

You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.Yeah the Teen PB plot getting dropped didn't bug me nearly as much as some of the other dropped plots (though how it got solved was way too easy) but it did start the trend so it deserves a mention.
This song needs more love.We still got the grass arm, though!
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?"Deep puberty metaphors yo."
So which one-shot character would you like to see make another appearance?
Not one-shots, but I'd like to see how Maja the Sky Witch and Psychic Tandem War Elephant are doing together.
And I want more Neddy. Not him being bothered by more people and getting distressed again, but just enjoying his own company and having some sort of one-person Bottle Episode underneath the Candy Kingdom
Oh right, that was just old newsworthy...I forgot.
