I said this earlier in the thread and I'll say it again. We should be rather conservative with how many Legendaries are captured and how much we know about them. It's fun to paint around blank spots and all that.

For instance, I only included references to the Colosseum storyline because the deeper details were kept under wraps, and it had a notable effect on the personality and behavior of the critters in question.

There really is no way around it with Spiritomb, is there? To quote a certain EIC: "It's magic, we don't have to explain it!"

Or, say that Spiritomb is a composite entity from another dimension which requires a material focus to manifest in our reality; a demon, in other words. As for the idea of it being comprised of 108 evil souls, let that be a myth or legend attributed to the creature which, while still prevalent in popular culture, has been disproven by science (like the gait of the dinosaurs before Jurassic Park came out).

I don't know what this thread has against wizards, really. Nice people. Mind bullets. Keep those damn scientists in line.

We don't have to explain everything. Even real life has some weird shit that we're still not sure how it works. This 'verse features the casual creation and destruction of mass as square one. There's going to be mysteries.

On the relatively good news, my thesis is almost done (I got word from my college's administration that I'm almost all-set-to-go). That means that soon I'll be a proud part of the unemployed workforce have some bursts of available time to complete more entries and correct the ones I have already written  *

; at the same time, it means that most likely I won't have as much spare time from next year on.

Yeah I'm yet to upload Surskit's entry, get permission for a particular Nido artwork and find that decent Lileep / Cradily art that is neither Naughty Tentacles or recolors of the TCG. Also I'll have to make sure I don't tread into Trope Repair Shop...

We came up with the idea of Ghost pokemon being extra-dimensional entities that were possessing things, right? So let's just say that Spiritomb's possession of a special rock was flawed or something like that.

Note that Psychic phenomena are already well-established fact in this reality. Not everything has to run by our universe's laws.

Actual ghosts are established to exist in both the anime (Maiden's Peak & that summer camp episode) and the games (Cubone's Mom, the Old Chateau).

A more useful question: what is the difference between Ghost Pokémon and ghosts of Pokémon/people?

I'm thinking either this for the obvious way (ghost-types are a subset of Pokémon ghosts), or this for the ambiguous mind-screwy way (ghost-types are sometimes actual ghosts and sometimes something...else).

The problem is there's not really any scientific way to observe and verify this, so most data on ghosts and ghost-types is half conjecture that so far is lucky enough to fall into a semi-reliable Magic A Is Magic A.

My two cents would be that whatever weird half-attachment ghosts have to the mortal plane, catchable ghost-types are anchored more strongly, and the pokeball is able to capture them just because the storage code is robust enough to pull off something it wasn't intended for.

Also jpeg compression laughs at us puny mortals

Cherubi Line

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Cherubi [420]
  • Cherrim [421]

Notable Biology

Cherrim is a small, red Grass type Pokemon that has a green leaf and a stem connecting two heads. The larger head serves as the brain, whereas the second head contains nutrients needed for evolution. As a result, Cherubi don't eat a lot, and get most of their nutrients from their second head, which is actually a deformed conjoined twin. Since its sibling is its main source of food, Cherubi spend a lot of their time sunning and hiding from flying Pokemon such as Starly, which will try to peck off its second head and eat it. [[Trainer's Note: If you are ever stuck in the forest, Cherubi fruits are a good source of nutrients, and the Pokemon is capable of surviving without it.]] As Cherubi get closer to evolution, their bodies get redder, and their second head begins to shrivel.

Once a Cherubi has absorbed a necessary amount of nutrients, which takes about three to six months depending on the presence of the berry and availible sunlight, it will evolve into Cherrim. Cherrim take on two forms depending on the weather. The first, known as Overcast Form, looks like a purple bud with a pink stem, bottom, and legs. The second known as Sunshine Form, is a yellow Pokemon with red fruits on both sides of its head, red eyes, and a "skirt" made of pink petals. When in Overcast Form, Cherrim tend to be rather docile, but in strong sunlght, they become a lot more active. The sunlight powers an organ that creates endorphins, making them always happy as well as giving them a power boost.

Habitat

Both Cherubi and Cherrim are forest Pokemon that are most often found in and around trees. They are mainly located in Sinnoh, but some have been introduced to the National Park in Johto.

Diet

Cherubi eat very little due to their second head and photosynthetic leaf, but they are quite partial to sweet things such as honey. Cherrum live off of tree sap, berries, honey, and pure sunlight.

Hazards

The Cherubi line is one of a few Pokemon species that possess little to no threat to humans. Both Cherubi and Cherrim can be safely handled, and will even approach humans of their own volition. However, they are not incapable of defending themselves if threatened.

The Cherubi line's first line of defense is to hide. If they cannot hide, then they will fight. Cherrim's abillity, Flower Gift, allows it to power up in sunlight, increasing the power of the already devastating Solarbeam. Other Grass moves they are capable of learning include Magical Leaf, Leech Seed, and Petal Dance, all of which can cause serious injury. Luckily, you'd have to really be trying to antagonize these Pokemon for them to attack you.

Courting and Childrearing

Mating is done mainly by Cherrim. In late spring, male Cherrim release thousands of pollen spores in the general direction of any females. Once the females are impregnated, they lay eggs after a week inside a tree hollow. The females then protect their eggs until they hatch, at which point the newly hatched Cherubi leave the nest and head for the ground.

Social Structure

Cherubi can be found in small groups of about 3-5 individuals, often related. These groups stay together even after evolution, where they join up into groups of 20 individuals.

Spiritomb is Lost Technology!

I imagine it to be a composite hivemind made of 108 different mental entities fused into a single presence.

If no one else has claimed them I'd quite like to do the Regis. I'm thinking that Regigigas was created by something (Arceus?) during the Mesozoic era (or equivelent) to be a guardian or going by it's name a king of some sort, eventually adopting humans to protect. Then Regigigas created Regirock during the Stone Age, possibly multiple Regirocks, to watch Humans while he rested. Same with Regice during the Ice Age and Registeel during the Iron Age. At some point Humans discovered Regigigas in what would become Snowpoint and built a temple around him. While clearly Regigigas wouldn't have towed the continents (least of all with ropes) he is (when fully awakened) one of the most powerful Pokemon on the planet.

Has anyone claimed the Regis? If not, you're certainly free to.

It appears to me that they're somewhat implied to be human creations, though. Between the Braille, the way they're sealed, and the golem connection. I dunno, thoughts?

^^^ Due to the towing continents legend I assumed that Regigigas at least was older than humans due the continental shift being minimal from the the birth of humanity to the present. Also, the Platinum, Heartgold and Soulsilver Pokedex all say that Regigigas created the other Regis. Which is interesting since if like I'm assuming the Regis were for the Stone Age, Ice Age and Bronze/Iron Age, would there be more Regis in the future? I'd think a Regidark would have worked for the Dark Ages and it keeps with the theme of all the Regis being weak to Fighting types.
