Thanks ^_^
If that was true, wouldn't Japan kind of be incredibly powerful in the Pokéworld? I mean, what use are jets in war when you have Garchomp? Even assuming this, the only person we've seen who used Pokémon in warfare was Lt. Surge, an American.
So I'm a writer...Wild Feraligatr are also known to attack humans. Trainers have used this fact to scare people with their 100% tame trained/bred Feraligatr and even Totodile.
Another tidbit, this time for Cubone: The Cubone and Marowak culture in fact revolves around bone masks made of fossils and the bones of their ancestors. Most Cubone usually wear just fossil bone-masks; as they revere the memory of their ancestors, wearing the skulls of their dead relatives is a great honor amongst their kind, as it brings them closer to the spirits of the ancestors.
Concerning pokemon in warfare, remember that one of the gentlemen in Surge's Gym served under him. This implies a pokemon-involving war was waged (years?) before the events of the games.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Orre, which mostly lacks Wild Pokémon, has a bit of an American West feel to it. So are Wild Pokémon less common in some regions? Hmm... timeline puzzling...
Either way, as far as Surge goes, we haven't really seen many other military types. It's possible the war didn't actually hit the Japan Expy, and Surge just was stationed in Vermilion afterwards.
^ I suppose Marowak skip the masks in favor of face paint?

Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Or Cubone's "mother" skull fuses into Marowak's?
^ Probably the fact that it's a shithole wasteland full of completely unchecked crime organizations. The wild Pokémon are smart enough to get the hell out of dodge, and most are physically capable of some kind of migration.
That last part is also why I suspect Pokémon habitation had to be largely worldwide. The water Pokémon alone are resilient enough to migrate basically wherever, and some of the more ridiculous fliers are probably capable of trans-Pacific flight. To say nothing of stowaways and international pets that go stray (remember the pythons in Florida? Now they're sentient and have superpowers).

^ Point. I guess the only things really keeping Wild Pokémon out of a desirable area would be... other Pokémon.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?^ And they say com mons aren't good for anything? Hey, if they're constantly there and they don't literally attack you(as in, not your pokemon), it's not all bad.
Aren't more of the rarer pokemon(save the Goddamn Bats and Demonic Spiders) usually the most dangerous?
Quest 64 threadUsually. Evolution in the wild is difficult given the higher degree of mortal danger involved, so stronger evolved forms are not nearly as frequent as base forms. More aggressive and powerful species would overbalance the ecosystem if they reproduced too frequently, so they must just have slower mating cycles — the slowest being Legendaries, or which Legendaries aren't singular entities.
That reminds me of all the Pokewar stories posted on the Platinum LP.
Actually all the electric gym leaders are based on the military. Wattson wears an Air-Force pilot's jacket and Volkner wears a Turkish army uniform. ...Or So I Heard.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Maybe Electric-types are to the military as Arcanine are to the police.
Brings a whole new meaning to shocktroopers.
^ Or they could add in some water for another kind of Trooper...
Quest 64 threadElectric-types are useful for keeping military bases well-powered.
Keeping animals to run your power plant probably isn't the most efficient method; Electrics probably find more use as in-the-field generators, since they can pull their own weight and help in a scrap.
('course, Electrode are easier to obtain than generators, and quieter, which would explain their use in the Mahogany experiment.)

Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? Also, the fact that you're carrying around a walking EMP or reusable grenade is pretty darn useful.
V He meant they're quiet while putting out power and not exploding. As opposed to a massive steam turbine.

^^ Quiet?! They explode, for cripes' sake! That's like using an Exploud!
Speaking of them, I have a Voltorb that "loves to run". Where's the irony here?
Edit: My joke still stands, but fair enough.

Quest 64 threadField generators are what I was getting at, actually.
Hmm... we're on an interesting tack here. What do Voltorb eat? Are they conventionally biological, or some sort of plasma sphere or gargantuan quantum dot?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Weren't they considered pokeballs that somehow gained life somewhere? Wait, that might mean something...
v Wy? Wynaut! Wobbuffet!

Quest 64 threadWill have a Carvanah/Sharpedo article up in a bit. Because why not?
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Hey, I just read the gym post. I have a theory of what happened with the dojo.
"Official Pokemon League gyms undergo a routine evaluation. If a gym is seen as unfit for their job, a candidate for gym leadership will be brought in to battle the older gym's leader, both using their personal teams. If the older gym is defeated, they are stripped of their license and the new leader is given a new gym. One such instance of this is the fighting dojo of Saffron City, Kanto."
WHO WANTS STAKE? *CACKLE*CACKLE*HM moves are digitally restricted through an encryption key that relies on data from your Trainer Card's Badge counter and Pokedex.

I like the idea of Pokemon being more common in Japan and "normal" animals elsewhere. Doesn't mean there are no Pokemon in the wild outside of Japan, just fewer of them.
